2016 Grammy Awards: 'Alright' Singer Kendrick Lamar Tops The Grammy Charts With 11 Nominations; Taylor Swift And The Weeknd Follows With 7 Nominations

The most honorable awards in the music industry, Grammy Awards are out with this year's nominations list, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The most sensational singer, Taylor Swift, rapper, Kendrick Lamar and Canadian singer, The Weeknd has emerged as the top challengers in the nominee list.

Neil Portow, CEO of the Recording Academy said that 2015 has seen some of the best recordings of all time. He was all praise for Kendrick Lamar during the interview with The Associated Press.

"He's someone that's very serious about his art and about his craft, and has been working it for quite some time," said Neil, reported NBC New York. "And this is one of those instances where the work pays off."

Kendrick is leading the race with total 11 nominations for upcoming Grammy awards ceremony. His album "To Pimp a Butterfly" has been nominated for the Album of the year category.

The Guardian reported that Lamar's most popular song, "Alright" has been nominated under the Song of the year section. Kendrick won two Grammy awards earlier this year and with 11 nominations is currently ruling the music industry. Kendrick is also nominated in the Duo performance and Best music video category with Taylor Swift for Bad Blood.

Taylor Swift has emerged as the next top contender in the nominations list. Swift is leading with seven nominations in her kitty including 1989 and Blank Space nominated under favorite album and song category respectively.

Taylor's 1989 album faces competition from Mariah Carey's Butterfly and The Weeknd's Beauty behind the Madness with Alabama Shakes' Sound and Color and Chris Stapleton's Traveller.

Swift's Blank Space has also been nominated under the Record of the year category, as it made it to the Billboard Hot 100 chart this year. Her song faces competition from Ed Sheeran's Thinking out Loud, Bruno Mars' Uptown Funk and The Weeknd's Can't Feel My Face.

Taylor had earlier won a Grammy Award in the year 2010. With seven nominations this year, Swift has brought in a fierce competition for 2016 Grammy Awards. The Weeknd has also made it to the top of the nominations list with Can't Feel My Face in the Best Pop solo performance category, reported The New York Times.
