The American drama series "The Leftovers" recently aired on a finale episode on HBO, according to The New York Daily News.
The latest episode from the drama series was a refreshing experience for the viewers as the one-hour long finale had a happy ending for Justin Theroux, actor who was seen departing to the other side, hinting the possibility of end of the series.
Forbes reported that HBO has still not made any official announcement for the third season of "The Leftovers." The rumors suggest that the delay has been made because of the drop in ratings during the second season.
The second season of the drama series saw many improvements from its creators Damon Lindelof and Tom Perrotta in terms of quality and character of the series. In an interview with Hitfix, Damon expressed his desireto give the series a complete makeover.
"The critical buzz, the critical response, and the fan response, has been much more positive this year than it was last year,"said Damon, reported The Hollywood Reporter. "But I think what would be great is if there were some kind of bump in the finale ratings."
"If the show had been on par with season one, I think we would definitely be proceeding with the third season," said Damon after discussions with HBO network, reported Time.
He also confirmed that the decision for the new season will be taken only after the ratings are confirmed by HBO. Lindelof also revealed that the mass appeal of the previous seasons will also be taken into consideration.
He also said that HBO will also look for the different traits that the past two seasons had offered all its viewers like new locations, new characters, opening credit and what new twists and turns the series has offered till date, before giving a green signal to air the third season of the drama series.
