It is now official that Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus and Galaxy Note 5 are getting new security updates from Verizon.
Verizon variants of Galaxy Note 5 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus are getting security updates, hours after T-Mobile released security patch for phones including Galaxy S6 Plus, S6 Edge, S6 and Note 5, according to Android Geeks.
Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus and Galaxy Note 5 run Android 5.1.1 Lollipop and the recent Verizon security update is allegedly aimed at boosting the device performance and fixing bugs and other security threats. Smart lock, lock screen notification, Do Not Disturb mode, multi-user functionality, screen pinning, battery server and heads-up notifications are some of the interesting features that phone users already enjoy with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop software.
Though it is official that Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus and Galaxy Note 5 are up for new security updates from Verizon it is said that the firmware is "in phases" and it would take couple or more days for all the customers to get notification of the update.
Though the new update is below 100 MB in size users won't be able to download it without a Wi-Fi connection. The users can initiate download when they get the notification message on their phone or check for system update in About device menu in settings. Users also can update the phone using Samsung KIES connecting the device to PC.
Meanwhile it is rumored that majority of Samsung devices running Android software are likely to get Android 6.0 Marshmallow update during the first quarter of next year. Samsung Galaxy S6, Samsung Galaxy Note 4, Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, Samsung Galaxy Note Edge and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus are some of the notable ones among 12 rumored devices proposed to get the new software update, reported Latin Post.
