Three actors who are born in 1993 ('93 line) are prominently leading the top dramas of January 2016.
An article published by the Korean outlet, Xsports News, examined the upward trajectory of Yoo Seung Ho, Park Bo Gum, and Seo Kang Joon, three members of the '93 line, who are setting hearts ablaze, in the new year.
Yoo Seung Ho delivers a heartrending performance as Seo Jin Woo, an impassioned young attorney, who possesses the condition, hyperthymesia, in the SBS court drama, "Remember."
Through his tearful monologues and compelling action sequences, Yoo leads "Remember towards 20 percent ratings with the series reaching 16.4 percent on January 13.
"Yoo Seung Ho was cast as the first actor I had in mind, from early planning stages of writing the character [of Jin Woo]," said Yoon Hyun Ho, the screenwriter of 'Remember.'
Yoon went on to describe the contributing factors to his decision.
"His spectrum of acting [allows] him to be a high school student or a young lawyer, even if he has the appearance of a high school student," said Yoon.
Park Bo Gum appeared in several supporting roles before emerging as a compassionately-executed romantic lead in "Reply1988."
While may appear to be a newcomer for international K-Drama viewers, his growing popularity in the tvN drama stems from his compelling performance in projects like "Coin Locker Girl," where he portrays Seok Hyun, the love interest of Kim Go Eun (Cheese in the Trap).
"Reply 1988" is one of the most popular installments within the franchise, with episode 18 reaching 20 percent ratings on some measurement scales.
5urprise member, Seo Kang Joon, has garnered positive feedback for his delivery of Baek In Ho, a wayward but beloved character from "Cheese in the Trap."
Seo continues to display improvement as an actor and performer, following casting criticism from fans of the web comics.
"Cheese in the Trap" premiered with ratings of 3.6, but increased to 4 percent, demonstrating its potential to emerge as the next top drama.
