Taiwanese actor Chen Bolin has been working with quite a few k-drama stars lately. He appeared in the film "Bad Guys Always Die" with Son Ye Jin. In that film he plays a tourist who unwittingly gets involved with a mysterious woman, played by Son.
He is also filming the k-movie "Risking Life For Love" with k-drama stars Ha Ji Won and Chun Jung Myung. 'Risking Life For Love" is a romantic comedy with some thriller elements. Chen Bolin plays the mysterious man who steals the heart of Ha Ji Won's character.
And now the Taiwanese star has been cast in the upcoming k-drama "Monster - 2016." Although he only appears in one episode of the revenge drama, his role is not just a cameo. He plays the head of a Chinese conglomerate named Michael Chang. The character is fluent in English, Chinese and Korean.
According to the Korean media outlet Joongang Daily, it is the first time that a Taiwanese actor has landed a role in a Korean drama series.
One reason that Bolin is working with so many Korean stars is that he signed a contract with BM+ Entertainment in 2015 to represent him in Korea.
Bolin has filmed dozens of dramas and appeared in a few films. The 32-year-old actor is best known for his role in "In Time With You," which was adapted into a k-drama as "The Time I Didn't Love You, 7,000 Days." His role in that drama won him the Best Actor Award at the 47th Golden Bell Awards.
"Monster - 2016" is the story of a man who loses everything and lives for revenge. It co-stars Kang Ji Hwan and Sung Yu Ri, who previously worked together in the drama "Hong Dong Gil" and in the film "Runaway Cop."
The 50-episode drama airs in March.
