"Veteran" is coming to DVD and Blu-Ray on April 5. The blockbuster garnered attention in 2015 as the sixth highest grossing Korean film of all time, racking up $85 million at the box-office.

Hwang Jung Min is Do Cheol, a well-intentioned detective who becomes entangled in an intricate revenge plot, after an unfortunate run-in with Jo Tae Oh, an irrational conglomerate heir who believes he is above the law.

"When I was writing the script, the main character of the detective has a lot of traits held by the actor, Hwang Jung Min," said director Ryoo Seung Wan, in a 2015 KDramaStars interview. "When I was writing the screenplay, I wrote the character specifically with him in mind. If he had declined the role, I feel like this film may not have been made."

Yoo Ah In (Six Flying Dragons, Like for Likes) portrays Tae Oh with sheer bravado, forcing audiences to confront their true feelings about corporate scions and the transparency of the relationship between the Korean business world and laws enforcement.

"He was known to the Korean public as having a childlike image and was viewed as a healthy, young man," said director Ryoo, in reference to Yoo Ah In. "At the time, he wanted to deviate from those types of roles and he wanted to try out something new. It was a fortunate case where the requirements of the film matched up with the actor's desires to try something different."

Produced by Ryoo Seung Wan's R&K and distributed by CJ E&M, "Veteran" strikes a chord with audiences who have grown accustomed to viewing the juxtaposition of scrappy protagonists who attempt to take on the challenges of a system rife with corruption.

"Veteran" will be available for North American audiences on DVD and Blu-Ray on April 5. Details about the release and additional information can be found on the website for CJ Entertainment.
