The director of Parasite, Bong Joon Ho, received the Beautiful Artists Awards (SACF) on November 6th.
The actors Song Kang-ho and Park Myung-hoon joined the ceremony on behalf of the director. Kwak Shin-ae, the CEO of Barunson E&A, was also present to represent the company that produced the movie.
The actor Song Kang-ho expressed his hopes for the upcoming Academy Awards, "We are hearing a lot of good news with regards to the Academy Awards, therefore we can expect great results."
The actor then said, "On behalf of the famous and honorable Director Bong, we are grateful to accept this award. He even offered a small portion of the prize to us. Originally, Park So-dam was supposed to be here as well but she had urgent matters she needed to tend to so she couldn't make it."
Song also spoke about director Bong Joon-ho, "I believe that the young director, Bong Joon Ho, will make great movies in the future. The kind of movies that will make the Korean entertainment shine, not just in Asia but globally."
Park Myung-hoon, who also joined the event added, "Thank you for giving me the opportunity to be here Bong Joon-ho. This prize, the plaque, and the flowers, I will make sure to take care of them and give it to the director. I am truly honored to be able to see those whose names I only studied when I was taking movie classes. I wanted to say thank you to my seniors."
Bong Joon-ho debuted in a feature film in 2000, "Barking Dogs Never Bite", and was recognized for his achievements and artistry by attracting 10 million audiences through his films such as "Memories of Murder", "Monster", "Mother" and "Snowpiercer."
