Gong Yoo opens up about his career, thoughts, and hopes on SBS's talk show "Because I want to Talk". This program is hosted by Lee Dong Wook it was broadcasted last December 11. The program aired it's second episode and the first guest was Gong Yoo. The talk show showed some footage of Lee Dong Wook and Gong Yoo's vacay to Jeju island.
Lee Dong Wook was asked, what he does when hi is resting? Then Gong Yoo responded that he likes fishing. When he has too much to think about and could not sleep, he would try fishing and it helped him relax. Fishing helped him a lot with regards to his mental health.
The famous actor Park Byung Eun also went with them on a fishing boat to help out the amateur fishers. He said that he thinks fishing is nice because you don't have to think a lot. Gong Yoo agreed to say it can help heal the emptiness actors feel after finishing a project. That is why he thinks fishing is a good activity for actors.
Then the actor was asked what makes Goo Yoo happy, he replied that he is an old guy who likes sports a lot. He said that the professional basketball game NBA season has already begun. He then checks the schedule of the game beforehand and turns his tv on as soon as he gets up from his bed. That is what he considers the joy in his life. He just recently went to the USA to watch an NBA live game in person and he felt that his heart was about to burst as soon as he entered the arena. He then jokingly said that he is not good at speaking English but he stood up and yelled to the players as if they were his friends.
Gong Yoo also informed the host that he likes watching films but doesn't like horror films and movies. He explained that he doesn't like watching horror films alone. When Jang Do Yeon opened up his zombie apocalypse movie "Train to Busan", the actor said that the costumes and makeups in this zombie movie were so realistic that he fought to death even when knowing that those were fake. He used all his strength to run whey the zombies chased after him.
The actor was recognized internationally because of his movie "Train to Busan". He expressed his pride in Korean recognition abroad, he gives his comment on "Train to Busan" being known and recognized at the Cannes Film Festival in the year 2016. He stated that he thinks it was cool to see the works created in Korea and the effort was acknowledged by the Canned which is the home of films. He added that he felt that the status of Korean films has changed and he felt very proud to be a Korean actor.
He also mentioned the popular boy band BTS. He said that it may be of different genre but he thinks that the BTS is also doing something amazing. He stated that the BTS band is enhancing the nation's prestige. Gong Yoo also added that this thing is quite unique and these things that the only culture can accomplish.
