This year 2020 brings us new much awaited Korean dramas. There will be stars that will return to small screen. This January 2020 there will be webtoon dramas to dramas with women in the lead.
The comeback of the stars: Famous actresses Kim Hye-soo and Kim Tae-hee are just some of the few stars that will be returning to the small screen. The SBS drama "Hyena" will feature the comeback of actress Kim Hye-soo. The drama "Hyena" storyline will center on lawyers who represent the top 1% high class society. This drama is Kim Hye-soo's first drama in the span of 4 years, her last drama was the tvN drama titled "Signal", alongside with rising top star Ju Ji-hoon. "Hyena" is scheduled to be released in February.
On the other hand, actress Kim Tae-hee returns for the first time in 5 years since she tied the knot to her celebrity husband Rain. She will star in tvN's upcoming drama titled "Hi Bye Mama". The story of this drama is about the 49-day 'reincarnation project' of a ghost mother to transforming back to being human again, and the husband who is trying to begin a new life again after conquering the great pain of losing his wife, and their child. In this drama Kim Tae-hee will play the role of Cha Yoo-ri who can not be able to cross over to the other world since she has never held her child in her arms and is longing to do so. "Hi Bye Mama" is scheduled to premier this February 2020.
This year 2020 Webtoon-based dramas are taking over our screens. The JTBC drama "Itaewon Class" centers the story on the 'hip' rebel and stubborn yet courageous youths living in this unfair world. It will show us the starting of businesses of those who push for freedom with their own values on a small street in Itaewon. The writer of the original webtoon named Kwang Jin also wrote the dama. This webtoon drama is scheduled to air very soon (January 31,2020).
Another webtoon drama to be released this 2020 is "Twin Pub" which is also a webtoon original. This webtoon drama is based on Bae Hye-soo's webtoon it will show the different stories that happens in a mysterious street pub late at night. Other webtoon dramas to be released are OCN's "Rugal" and KBS 2TV's "Welcome", which is scheduled to be coming out in the month of March 2020.
Lastly this new year 2020 there will be Woman-led dramas.
Kim Seo-hyung will be the single lead actress in the SBS drama "Nobody Knows". Finally a change of attention in the k-drama industry. "Nobody Knows" is a mystery drama that tells the story of a police officer who wants to protect the children who are in danger. Kim Seo-Hyung is portraying the 37 year-old detective named Cha Yeong-jin. She lost her friend 19 years ago to a serial killer. Over the years, Cha Young-Jin still feels the guilt and trauma over the death of her friend. And soon enough Cha Young-Jin chases after the killer of her friend. She showed charismatic role in the jTBC drama titled "SKY Castle" and now she's returning with a different role and character this coming month of March.
2020 will be a very exciting year for the kdrama lovers. So let us watch out for more drama's coming this year!
