This 13th of February KST, Ilgan Sports released a report that the tvN's "Arthdal Chronicles" is preparing for production for a new season.
It is said that tvN's "Arthdal Chronicles" will start their production of its second season on either September or October at the latest. All the cast members that were not killed off in the first season of the series will come back to the second season including lead characters Song Joong Ki, Jang Dong Gun, Kim Ji Won, and Kim Ok Bin which are expected to reprise their roles. As of the moment the production staffs are working on organizing a schedule that will accommodate the main actors.
The director however is reported to be changes on the next season. The first season director is Kim Won Suk who also made ("Incomplete Life," "Signal," "My Mister").Director Kim Won Suk stated in advance that that he would only direct one season of the show. And in addition, Director Kim Won Suk has left the production company Studio Dragon which was the producer of the "Arthdal Chronicles" and he is currently working with KakaoM which makes a lesser chance for him returning to "Arthdal Chronicles".
"Arthdal Chronicles" is an epic fantasy drama that centers the story on heroes who make their own legends in the mythical land of Arth. This is a South Korean television series helmed by Kim Won-seok , penned by Kim Young-hyun and Park Sang-yeon, the cast of the drama is starring Jang Dong-gun, Song Joong-ki, Kim Ji-won and Kim Ok-vin. The drama was filmed outside Korea in the beautiful country of Brunei.
It is reported that the the production team of this drama's first season was criticized for mistreatment of its production staff. It is said that the team was of violating labor laws from local civic groups, including the Seoul-based Hanbit Media Labor Rights Center and Hope Solidarity Labor Union. The drama crew was said working day and night having a murderous" working environment that made them work up to 150 hours a week. An organization submitted a report for the Studio Dragon to the Seoul Employment and Labor Administration. And eventually had an agreement and and announced by the studio last September to enhance the labor environment of its staff.
The Studio Dragon production company replied to the allegations claiming that they abided by its own labor rules and also admitted that they had filmed for 113 hours during the week they travelled to Brunei to be able to make the most out of their time shooting in the said country.
There is a total of 18 episodes for the first season that was released last year. It was aired in three parts so it was six episodes per part. The production cost spent was reportedly an amount of 50 billion won (about $42.4 million). Since the show was intended to show for multiple seasons, the first season had an uncertain ending.
Everyone is looking forward for the new season of "Arthdal Chronicles".
