Actor David Lee expressed his thoughts regarding his character in "Itaewon Class."
This March 23rd, the actor joined in an interview after having the successful run of the drama "Itaewon Class."
In this drama, actor David Lee portrayed Lee Ho-Jin, the school mate that was bullied in high school by Jang Geun Won portrayed by Ahn Bo Hyun who us the son of Jangga's CEO. Park Sae Ro Yi played by Park Seo Joon was the only person to stand up for him and helped him out at that time. Eventually, they both help each other out and joined forces to take down the Jangga company together.
David Lee expressed that he like manhwas Korean comics like 'One Piece,' so he really enjoyed the original comic version of the "Itaewon Class."
Both the teamwork and chemistry of David Lee and Park Seo Joon excelled the most in the scene where Lee Ho Jin went to visit Park Sae Ro Yi in prison.
David Lee revealed that he thought about it a lot, but he didn't know how to express this scene. Then on the day of filming, Seo Joon calmly expressed this scene having a thoughtful smile. He said that he felt as if it had been solved after seeing how Seo Joon did it.
He also added that he thought a lot about each scene in order to not appear like over-the-top or overly acting. Lee Ho-Jin is most of the time with Park Sae Ro Yi, and Seo Joon's acting helped him a lot every time they filmed.
David Lee then further explained his struggles of portraying as Park Seo Joon's friend onscreen, who is older than him in real life. He felt a bit awkward acting while wearing a suit also he felt worried about how he could be seen as Seo Joon's friend because he did not want to disturb or be an interruption to the story.
The young actor has chosen as one of his favorite scenes the one where Park Sae Ro Yi comforted Ma Hyun Yi who is played by Lee Joo Young after she was outed as transgender. David Lee expresses that there was a scene in the drama where Sae Ro Yi tells Ma Hyun Yi, 'You don't need to make other people understand who you are.'
David Lee most of the time filmed scenes with Park Seo Joon, Kim Hye Eun, and Kim Da Mi, but has the regret that he wasn't a part of the Danbam pub family. He expressed that he was close with Ryu Kyung Soo who portrayed Choi Seung Kwon since both of them formerly worked on a film together, and he got close with Kim Da Mi immediately since they're both of the same age. Having some team dinners, David Lee was able to hang out with the actors here and there, so we all of the cast and staff of "Itaewon Class" were able to get close quickly.
Commending co-star Kim Da Mi, he went om stating that there is a huge difference between films and dramas. Kim Da Mi probably had many concerns and worries because this was her first drama, but she was able to adapt very fast. He added that he really like Da Mi's unique tone.
David Lee ended his talk sharing his plans for the near future stating that he doesn't have a follow-up project as of the moment and he wants to take a rest and prepare to see everyone again with a good project.
