Romantic K-dramas give you that giddy feeling - the butterflies in your stomach - as you watch the couple exchange cheesy lines or as they fall in love or seal a kiss! And, admit it, you've wished that your partner will give the same amount of attention as what you see in the drama. But what type, exactly?
Below are the types of couples we've seen in a bunch of K-dramas. Which ones do you and your beloved belong?
Overprotective
("The King: Eternal Monarch" and "The Legend of the Blue Sea")
Both starred by Lee Min Ho, his actions towards his leading ladies were purely overprotective. In TKEM, though, he was busy ruling as the king he still finds time to visit detective Jung Tae Eul in the other world and even sent his most trusted bodyguard to protect her from his evil uncle.
Additionally, in "The legend of the Blue Sea," when he realized that Sim Chung is actually a mermaid, he was protecting her in an overly manner so she won't get wet and accidentally reveal she's a mermaid.
Over-jealous
("Boys Over Flowers" and "Descendants of the Sun")
No doubt Lee Min Ho as Go Jyun Pyo was some sort of an arrogant heir. He gets what he wants and the jealousy was really noticed by fans and added to the chemistry of the couple.
Song Jong Ki was tough and his character is so manly. He is often rough towards other people but when it comes to Song Hye Kyo he becomes soft and also the most jealous person in the room. Though his jealousy is through the roof, his cuteness just resonates his handsome face.
Sweet and romantic
("Crash Landing on You" and "The Heirs")
People fell in love with Hyun Bin as Captain Ri, as his actions towards Son Ye Jin, most especially how he took care of her, was just oh so sweet that we wish for a man like him to "crash land" on us as well. Also, when Yoon Seri saved the life of Capt. Ri from getting shot was one of the most heart-stopping yet most romantic way a person can express her love.
Lee Min Ho as Kim Tan was very sweet toward Park Shin Hye as Cha Eun Sang in "The Heirs." Though he was an heir, you can't help yourself but get giddy seeing the sweet things Kim Tan do for her.
Unrequited love
("The Heirs" and "Autumn In My Heart")
Even though Cha Eun Sang is poor, Kim Tan is in love with her. Choi Young Do (Kim Woo Bin) feels the same towards the girl, but Cha Eun Sang chose Kim Tan over him.
Tae Seok's (Won Bin) love and devotion for Eun Seo (Yoon Eun Seo) despite her intense feelings for Joon Seo (Song Seung Hun) really was the highlight of the show.
Forbidden love
("Goblin" and "Hi Bye Mama")
Kim Go Eun is a human and Gong Yoo is the Goblin who was punished to live in eternity. SPOILER ALERT: she later on died tragically in an accident trying to protect a group of kids from getting ran over by a truck.
The love for the husband to his late wife, who was given 49 days to go back and live as a human, is completely forbidden and so heartbreaking to watch as he was also married to another person.
No wonder K-dramas are a massive wave to viewers. Though some they may be far from reality, but watching these make the hearts of the viewers happier and fuller.
