On July 19, rumors involving Han So Hee's mother began circulating on social media after one netizen posted on an online forum, claiming that they were scammed by a mother of a Korean actress, who had become well known through her recent hit drama titled "The World of the Married." And to prove her statement, "A" included the text conversation of her and the said mother in question.
Not long after, the young actress posted her statement on her blog to respond to the speculations about her mother's unpaid debts.
Han So Hee's statement reads:
"Hi, this is Han So Hee.
First of all, I wouldn't presume to comprehend everything, but I would like to apologize first to the victims who wrote with a feeling of standing on the edge of the cliff.
I'm sure you're in a situation where nothing can comfort you.
I would also like to sincerely apologize to all of you who may have felt uncomfortable or hurt through this incident. I'm really sorry.
I'm writing in disgrace, hoping that there will be no other victims.
My grandmother raised me because my parents got divorced when I was 5. After entering high school, I moved to Ulsan, where my mother was living, but I still lived with my grandmother. After graduation, I moved to Seoul.
Since I didn't often have communication with my mother, I learned about her debt after I turned 20. Since my mother was raised by the woman (her grandmother) who raised me, I repaid for my mother's debt even before my debut.
After my debut, I learned through the debtors that my mother borrowed money using my name as a shield and did not pay it back, and the amount of debt I received in my name was too large to handle.
I'm just sorry that my carelessness, which I thought would be the only solution to repay her debt for my young and immature judgment, resulted in more victims.
Lastly, I would like to apologize again to the victims and everyone who might have been hurt by this incident."
