"The Good Detective" finale reached excellent ratings, and main characters finally uncovered the truth of the murder case five years ago.
According to Nielsen Korea, the final episode of the JTBC show aired on August 25 recorded average ratings of 7.469 percent nationwide and reached 8.464 percent in the metropolitan area.
"The Good Detective" had been getting favorable responses for the past consecutive weeks. It continued to be as the number one drama on its time slot for all channels.
The final episode provides the truth behind the crime that happened five years ago, wherein two individuals were killed, and put an end to corruption and injustice in the criminal and judicial level.
According to Donga.com in an exclusive interview with chief producer Jo Joon Hyung, "The possibility of giving "The Good Detective" a season 2 is open. We have to decide the next story and we have to discuss with the broadcasting station and the creators as well. We do not close the thought of doing it but we shall keep the possibility and watch the trend."
CP Jo Joon Hyung continued, "The dramas approached are different from other detective series. It focuses on the psychology of the character. It depicts the thought that anyone can be wrong but it is your responsibility to admit and correct your mistakes. The viewers accepted this approach and sympathized with this."

Yoo Jeong Seok, played by Ji Seung Hyun, ends his life after the truth comes out that he killed both Jo Sung Gi and Jang Jin Soo, though Nam Guk Hyun, played by Yang Hyun Min, was the one who stabbed Jang Jin Soo to death.
Nam Guk Hyun discovered Jang Jin Soo's body after Yoo Jeong Seok left the scene - he killed him to cover up his corruption.
Oh Jong Tae, played by Oh Jung Se, was apprehended by the police and found guilty by killing the college student. He was sentenced to life imprisonment for conspiring with the murder of Jang Jin Soo.
Lee Dae Chul's injustice and unfair death gave clarity to how the investigation and evidence was manipulated by the group of people for corruption and politics. His only daughter Eun Hye, played by Lee Ha Eun, wishes to follow her dreams and live a happy life with the help of Kang Do Chang, played by Son Hyun Joo.
Finally, Oh Ji Hyuk, played by Jang Seung Jo, received an apology from the man who killed his father. His life was haunted by the thought of him not giving any justice to his parents' death. This time, his heart and mind find peace that he then found the murderer that brought nightmares since he was a young boy.
Each of the characters of the story get to heal their wounds and as they worked together to find justice they became a big family.
