Tilda Swinton described "Snowpiercer" (2013) and "Okja" (2017) director Bong Joon Ho in her letter, "He is the person whom I knew who possess an ultimate sophisticated cinematic fanboy whilst harboring not a drop of either snobbery or cynicism. He is highly skilled, highly principled, compassionate to the last. It is time that the world catch up."

Time magazine simply shared Bong Joon Ho's presence, "He is the filmmaker this year who has risen into the 2020 vision of the entire cine-passionate planet like a new sun".

Bong Joon Ho's popularity this year started in his historic fashion moments at the Academy Awards where his Cannes-winning "Parasite" made history as the first foreign language movie to take home the Oscar for Best Picture. The director also swept the awards in the Academy Awards for Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best International Feature Film.

"Parasite" made sensational records at the worldwide box office earning 261 million USDM, becoming Bong Joon Ho's biggest hit to date. The said film reached a 53.4 million USD gross in the U.S., making "Parasite" one of the five foreign-language domestic releases in box office history.

Meanwhile, Bong Joon Ho has not announced any follow-up film to "Parasite". Currently, he is working with Adam Mckay to adapt his historic Oscar winner into an HBO limited series. He is also in discussion for the upcoming film "Sea Fog".
