EXO's D.O., also known as Do Kyungsoo, has been confirmed to star alongside actor Sol Kyung Gyu in director Kim Yong Hwa's new film "The Moon".
According to industry reporters on October 14, Wednesday, Sol Kyung Gyu and Do Kyungsoo will star in the film "The Moon". This will be Kim Yong Hwa's first directing endeavor following the "Along With The Gods" series, with the last movie in the series being released in 2018. They are currently coordinating filming details.
"The Moon," tells the story of a man (Do Kyungsoo) who is isolated in space following an accident. He is suddenly reached out by another man from Earth (Sol Kyung Gyu) who is working on an astronomical observatory who tried to bring him back home.
"The Moon" will begin filming in the first half of next year, 2021.
Sol Kyung Gyu is a veteran actor who has been active in the film industry since 1993. He continues his never-ending activities. In 2019 alone, he starred in three movies, "Idol", "Birthday", and "Man to Men". Throughout his career, he has starred in 43 films and six dramas. He has also appeared in two music videos.
Do Kyungsoo debuted under the stage name D.O. in 2012. He first debuted as a member of EXO under SM Entertainment and is known as one of the group's main vocalist. In 2014, Do Kyungsoo made his acting debut with a supporting role in the movie "Cart". He also sang the OST for the film titled "Crying Out".
Do Kyungsoo achieved breakthrough success as an actor later that year with the drama "It's Okay, That's Love". His role in the drama was praised by film critic Heo Ji Woong and he was later nominated for the Best New Actor award at the 51st Baeksan Arts Award.
In 2019, Do Kyungsoo voluntarily enlisted for his mandatory military service early and had officially enlisted as an active-duty soldier on July 1 of that year. That same day, he released a solo track titled "That's Okay". In 2020, he was cast in the rerun of the original military musical "Return: The Promise of the Day".
Do Kyungsoo will be discharged on January 2021. "The Moon" will be his first film following his discharge.
