The popular web entertainment show "Fake Man" has finally announced the suspension of broadcast after a series of controversies surrounding the cast of the show, especially and most importantly, Captain Lee Geun.
YouTuber Kim Gye Ran revealed on his YouTube channel "Physical Gallery" community on the 16th of October 2020 that, "The trainees, instructors, and even their families who have sincerely participated in the recent program are suffering from extreme malicious comments and their daily lives are being consumed by becoming the subject of gossip."
He added, "To prevent further damage, we will take all moral responsibility for the recent controversy, stop all activities today, and reorganize with our team members to return to a better shape." Season 1 and 2 of Fake Man's videos in the "Physical Gallery" channel were all turned to private.
The show was incredibly popular and was created by the channel 'Physical Gallery' in collaboration with security and tactics consulting firm MUSAT. It featured YouTube celebrities and internet broadcasters of the like in extreme situations as they participated in MUSAT's simulated Underwater Demolition Team training program.
The show was initially a parody of MBC's "Real Men," which features celebrities experiencing Korean military training. However, the show took the challenges much more seriously as it found success.
However, starting with the season 1 instructor, UDT/SEAL Captain Lee Geun, who was engulfed in various controversies such as debts and sexual harassment, it became difficult for the cast members such as Logan and Jung Eun Joo to continue broadcasting as controversy over their privacy arose.
Lieutenant Geun Lee, a former military consultant and YouTuber from the Naval Special Warfare Corps (UDT/SEAL), became famous as a training instructor in "Fake Man." Having created buzzwords such as "Do you have a personality problem?" and "○○ is individualism," he is gaining popularity recently by appearing in various entertainment shows, including his recent appearance in Jessi's Show interview.
However, due to the immense scale of the controversy surrounding him, the show has been discontinued officially.
