Actor Lee Joon Gi recently mentioned his thoughts concerning the drama "Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo" having a second season. Read on to see what he had to say!
On Monday, Nov. 23, the fashion magazine Allure released their pictorial interview with Lee Joon Gi. During the interview, Lee Joon Gi was asked if there was any work from his filmography to recommend others to watch. He replied, "There are many that are fun to watch. Though it's an old drama of mine, I hope people watch MBC's 'Time Between Dog and Wolf.' SBS's 'Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo' is also good!"
"Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo" was released in 2016 and received massive praise both in South Korea and internationally. The drama earned Lee Joon Gi numerous international fans. Every time an actor who was part of "Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo" does well, the drama becomes a hot topic again.
The actor also spoke about his fellow castmates during the interview. Lee Joon Gi recalls those who acted alongside him with fondness during his interview, saying, "Joo Hyuk came out, Baekhyun came out, and Hanel came out."
He then proceeds to talk about the possibility of the drama having a second season. "I know fans really want to see a second 2, but it's hard to cast everybody now."
It's not hard to see why Lee Joon Gi says so. "Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo" boasted a star-studded cast that perfectly complimented the story and the direction. Lee Joon Gi himself said that the drama helped elevate each cast member's popularity and broaden their work scope.
The work not only helped Lee Joon Gi become a household name both in South Korea and abroad, but it also helped skyrocket IU's fame. IU was already famous as a singer, but the drama established her as an actress and a top star.
The drama also features other notable names, such as Kang Ha Neul, Hong Jong Hyun, Nam Joo Hyuk, Baekhyun, Ji Soo, and Yoon Sun Woo.
As most of the actors and actresses in the drama are top-stars, it is unrealistic for all of them to get together, clear their schedules, and film a second season of "Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo." Still, fans are hopeful they'll see all of them together on screen again one day.
