Korean superstar Ji Chang Wook shares his signature charm as he appears on the cover of WAVES China magazine's December 2020 issue.
Released images of the 33-year-old (34 in Korean reckoning) actor and singer, currently with talent agency Glorious Entertainment, show a seriously sensual yet chic ambiance, achieved through a careful composition of lighting and shadows.
Teasing Ji Chang Wook fans around the world with a sample of his exclusive interview, he was asked about his "continuing goals," to which the actor answered: "It is to show good work to the public as an actor, and to act in good health for a long time."
Next, he was asked about his character Park Jae-won, set to appear in the upcoming South Korean romance drama "Lovestruck in the City." Ji Chang-wook replies, "What if I were him? How would I behave, and what kind of heart would I have had?" He added that he is "having a lot of fun filming."
He also invited fans to watch his latest project, "I'm meeting you [fans] in my next film. It made me look forward to it."
In "Lovestruck in the City," Ji plays Park Jae-won, an honest and passionate architect who remains hung up with a woman he met before, Lee Eun-oh, played by Kim Ji-won ("The Heirs," "Fight For My Way"). Joining the cast of characters are Kim Min-Seok ("Flower Band," "The Doctors," and "Innocent Defendant"), So Joo-Yeon ("Dr. Romantic 2"), and Ryu Kyung-soo ("Itaewon Class," "Confession").
The series is set to premiere on Kakao TV on December 8, 2020. The series is also set to make its worldwide debut through the streaming platform Netflix.
Ji Chang-Wook first earned his lead role in the Korean daily drama "Smile Again" in 2010, followed by the titular role in the 2011 historical series "Warrior Baek Dong-soo," itself an adaptation of a popular manhwa, or Korean graphic novel. He first made his breakthrough with his role as Toghon Temur in the 2013 historical epic "Empress Ki," with Ha Ji-won in the lead role. Since then, Ji Chang-Wook has starred in a string of hit Korean television dramas: "Healer" (2014-2015), "K2" (2016), and "Suspicious Partner" (2017).
By August 2017, Ji started his mandatory military service, joining the South Korean Army's 3rd Infantry Division at Cheorwon, Gangwon province. After his training, he was then assigned to the 5th Artillery Brigade. First being appointed as a Platoon Leader, then Corporal, then Sergeant. He was later discharged on April 27, 2019.
After his discharge, Ji was soon cast in the tvN romantic comedy series "Melting Me Softly," where he plays a television producer who wakes up 20 years in the future after joining a human-freezing project.
Before "Lovestruck in the City," Ji Chang-Wook also starred in another live-action adaptation, "Backstreet Rookie," which aired from June to August 8, 2020.
Aside from his acting roles, Ji is also a singer - performing some of the official soundtracks for the shows he starred in. In 2016, he released his solo Mandarin-language EP, "Be With You."
