Hello Venus original member Kwon Nara will become an undercover government worker in the upcoming historical drama of KBS 2TV titled "Secret Royal Inspector!"
The series takes place at the end of the Joseon era, and its story will revolve around Sung Yi Gyum, portrayed by Kim Myung Soo, who topped the state examination and got a job at the Hongmungwan (administrative and research department). He is a free-spirited man who doesn't seem to care about his future - he doesn't have a goal or ambition in life.
One day, Sung Yi Gyum was caught doing an illegal act. He was sanctioned, and as punishment, he was assigned to work as a secret royal inspector. After which, he carries out his new job with the help of his sidekick Park Chun Sam and Hong Da In.
If you don't know, a secret royal inspector is a real government position given to a person during the Joseon dynasty era. The king himself appoints individuals in this position because they serve as the king's eyes and ears. They travel the provinces in disguise to investigate and take down the corrupt government officials.
In the drama Kwon Nara stars as Hong Da In, she works as a damo (a woman who works for a Joseon government office), but also goes undercover as a gisaeng (a courtesan trained to entertain people through music and arts).
Lee Yi Kyung stars as Park Chun Sam, the most trusted servant and the right-hand man of Sung Yi Gyum. He is very talkative, affectionate, and tearful. Meanwhile, Lee Tae Hwan stars as Sung Yi Bum, the younger stepbrother of Sung Yi Gyum. His father is a nobleman; however, his mother is from a low-class family. Due to his mother's low social status, Sung Yi Bum was disowned by his own father and didn't accept him as his real son. Because of this, he is stripped from his rights and opportunities. He isn't on good terms with his brother Sung Yi Gyum.
In an interview for the drama, Kwon Nara talks about her character and shares her thoughts. She expressed Hong Da In's personality as a driven "heart stealer." Her role is essential to the team that fights against injustice. The actress shared that she felt nervous because Hong Da In's character is quite different from the ones she portrayed before, but she felt thrilled about the character, which made her more excited about the drama.
Kwon Nara continued stating that Hong Da In's character will mark a memorable first impression. She is a strong woman who isn't afraid to express whatever is on her mind even though she is already in a dangerous situation.
Aside from talking about her character, the actress also talked about the drama sharing that as she studied the script, she felt that it was so refreshing to read about the secret royal inspector's team slowly building their teamwork and work together to fight injustice. Lastly, Kwon Nara expressed that the drama can make the viewers smile, bring them laughter, and entertain them.
"Secret Royal Inspector" is set to premiere on December 21 at 9:30 p.m. KST. Don't miss it guys!
