Kim Go Eun will be gracing the small screen soon with a new adaptation of a popular webtoon! Recently, the actress was confirmed to star as the lead character in the upcoming drama "Yumi's Cells." The drama is a remake of the hit webtoon of the same title and tells the story of a normal office worker named Yumi. It will feature the point of view of the numerous brain cells inside her head - controlling her every thought, feelings, and action.
The actress is said to portray Yumi's character who is an ordinary woman struggling to express her feelings. However, when she starts to experience growth in some aspects of her life, she learns to discover the essence of happiness through small things in her daily life.
The original webtoon is known to be very famous. Kim Go Eun also talked about it saying that the reason why the webtoon was able to make a lot of people laugh and cry for such a long time was because of how relatable Yumi is. The actress added that she's looking forward in playing the role as it'll be a new adventure for her.
The drama adaptation will be directed by Lee Sang Yeob who also previously helmed "Familiar Wife" and "Shopping King Louie." The drama is co-written by writer Song Jae Jung who also penned "Memories of the Alhambra," and Kim Yoon Joo who previously created "Find Me in Your Memory."

South Korean actress Kim Go Eun was born on July 2, 1991. The 29-year-old actress started her career as an actress through the 2012 film Muse where she took home several Best New Actress awards in South Korea. She is also widely recognized for her portrayal in several television series, namely Cheese in the Trap (2016), Guardian: The Lonely and Great God (2016), and The King: Eternal Monarch (2020).
Kim Go Eun's latest drama series was in The King: Eternal Monarch (2020), where she starred alongside Lee Min Ho. The series was considered as one of the most anticipated drama in 2020 due to its all-star cast, renowned screenwriter, extensive publicity, and its more than 30 billion Won (US$25 million) production budget.
In the same year, the actress was also cast in South Korea's first-ever musical film Hero, which is based on the hit musical Youngwoong. It's about the life of the activist An Jung Geun following the assassination of Itō Hirobumi. Kim Go Eun is said to portray the character of the former-Gungnyeo-turned-Geisha who becomes a part of the Korean independence movement. It was originally planned to be released in July 2020, however, it was delayed due to the ongoing COVID19 pandemic.
