On Tuesday, Jan. 19, SBS News revealed that Park Si Yeon was involved in a drunk driving incident in broad daylight.
According to reports, actress Park Si Yeon collided with a car that was stopped at a traffic light in Seoul, South Korea. During the time of the incident, Park Si Yeon's blood alcohol concentration level was measured to be 0.097%. That level is high enough to have her driver's license confiscated. The accident is reported to have happened on Sunday, Jan. 17, at around 11:30 AM KST.
During the police investigation, Park Si Yeon admitted to having consumed alcohol and to the drunk driving charged. Luckily, no one was injured during the crash. Park Si Yeon has been booed by the police and is currently undergoing investigation.
Shortly after reports about the incident started making their rounds on the internet, YTN Star reported a started from Park Si Yeon's agency, Mystic Story, concerning the recent accident.
According to Mystic Story, Park Si Yeon did not consume alcohol the day of the accident and had actually drunk the night before. They acknowledged the mistake she had done but stressed that the accident was not international.
Their statement reads,
"She (Park Si Yeon) had drunk the night before (Saturday, Jan. 16). By morning, she had assumed she was sober enough to drive. It was wrong of her to drive without realizing she was still intoxicated. But she did not drink in broad daylight."
Since then, Park Si Yeon has taken to her social media to acknowledge her mistake and her wrongdoings. in her post, she apologizes for causing such a disturbance. She acknowledges that no matter what the reason is, nothing excuses her poor choice of action. Park Si Yeon tells fans that she regrets what she has done and is deeply reflecting on it. Additionally, the actress apologized to all the people who were cheering her on and support her.
Her whole statement reads:
"This is Park Si Yeon.
I think it is only fitting that I personally apologize, so I am cautiously dedicating a post on this on my personal account. First, I genuinely apologize for causing such a disturbance. Regardless of whatever reason or excuse, I should not have done what I did. I deeply regret my carelessness and am currently reflecting on my actions. I want to also apologize to everyone who has supported me and cheered me on. Once again, I would like to apologize and promise that I will reflect on my mistake."

Her last leading role was in the SBS drama "Should We Kiss First?", which aired from Feb. 20 to April 24, 2020. The show spanned 40 episodes. The story followed middle-aged men and women who have given up any dreams of a loving romance but are all afraid of living and dying alone.
