Idols-turned-actors Hani and Kim Min Kyu are in discussions to star in JTBC's "Idol," to air sometime this 2021.

Kim Min Hyun and EXID's Hani Might Star in New Drama "Idol"

According to media reports on April 4, Kim Min Kyu has been cast to appear in JTBC's forthcoming series "Idol."

On the same day, the actor's agency Jellyfish Entertainment released a statement regarding the offer. They said, "Our artist Kim Min Kyu has received the script for the upcoming JTBC's new series 'Idol' and as of now, he is currently reviewing it."

The 20-year-old idol was first introduced in Mnet's "Produce x 101." After he finished his journey in the said survival show, Kim Min Kyu made his acting debut with the web drama "Pop Out Boy!" He was partnered with Weki Meki's member Kim Doyeon, which gained good feedback from the viewers.

At such a young age, Kim Min Kyu is already starting to show his interest in the field of acting. His love for music will always be there, but engaging himself in a more complex yet interesting industry of entertainment will lead him to become a knowledgeable and open minded artist.

Earlier this month (April), it was announced that EXID's Hani is in talks to portray the main protagonist in "Idol." But there is no confirmation yet whether the idol-turned-actress will be accepting the project.

On the other hand, Hani is currently doing a drama alongside actors CNBLUE's Kang Min Hyuk, Jung In Sun, Cha Min Jee, Song Jae Rim, and Baek Sung Chul.

EXID's Hani has been receiving lots of recognition. Not just because of her visuals, skills, and personality, but most importantly, she also excels in acting.

Writer and Director of "Idol"

JTBC's new drama "Idol" is expected to be helmed by Noh Jong Chan, who also directed some of the known K-dramas, from "Cruel Palace - War of Flowers," "Clean with Passion for Now, and "Personal Taste."

Jung Yoon Jung will be the one to pen the series. Some of his works are "Monstar," "Incomplete Life," and "Tale of Arang," and "Bride of the Water God."

It was also confirmed that the production in-charge already finished casting actors to be included in "Idol." The schedule of filming and when the series will air is yet to announce to the public.
