Shin Sung-rok has contracted the COVID-19 virus recently. He is the latest addition to the growing list of popular personalities who have tested positive for the deadly disease.
Shin Sung-rok Infected with COVID-19 Virus
The actor, most notable for his role as the villain in the popular drama "My Love from the Star," made an appearance on the web show "Naver NOW Serizabeth" on April 21 to promote his musical, "Dracula." Shortly after, the actor reportedly fell sick. Fearing he might be COVID-19 positive, he got himself tested.
The results, which came out on April 24, showed the actor as COVID-19 negative. However, because he still feels sick, he underwent a second test on April 28. This time, the results revealed that he has contracted coronavirus. Fortunately, on the days between his first and second tests, he practiced self-isolation. His agency, HB Entertainment, confirmed this positive result.

During the promotion of his musical, he appeared with YJ's Kim Junsu, and husband and wife Son Jun-ho, and musical actress Kim So-hyun. They all got themselves tested as well, but their results were negative. They all underwent a second test like the "Kairos" actor. Apart from Shin Sung-rok, Jeon Dong-suk tested positive. Kim Junsu, however, still tested negative.
Like Shin Sung-rok, Jeon Dong-suk, and Kim Junsu had observed self-isolation even before the second test results were released.
Like most cases, it cannot really be known who infected whom.
Apart from "Dracula," Shin Sung-rok is also a regular cast member of the Korean TV variety show "Master in the House." His co-stars included Lee Seung-gi, K-pop boy band ASTRO's Cha Eun-woo, Yang Se-hyung, and Kim Dong-hyun.
A representative from "Master in the House" said Shin Sung-rok also came into close contact with a confirmed COVID-19-infected person after filming the variety show.

Earlier this year, the actor revealed his secret to playing a villain people cannot easily forget.
While making a guest appearance on the March 28 episode of SBS's "My Ugly Duckling," the actor was lauded by a panel of celebrity moms who claimed they cannot forget him on not just "My Love from the Star," but also in "The Last Empress," and "Return," where he also took on the role of a villain.
The celebrity moms said they expected him to look scary in real life, but his eyes are actually gentle and kind, which made the actor laugh.
Shin Sung Rok explained that he deliberately made his eyes scary on those shows. Asked to demonstrate how he changed his eyes, the actor gamely did it on the spot, making the moms happy.
