"When the Camella Blooms" Was Gong Hyo Jin's Last K-Drama
The last time people saw Gong Hyo Jin giving her all in a drama role was in "When the Camella Blooms," which aired in a pre-pandemic world, or in 2019.
She played Dong Baek, a single mom who moved from Seoul to a small provincial town called Ongsan, to start anew. Her idea of a new life is quite idyllic. She leased an empty warehouse and renovated it herself. She then named it Camellia. By its name, people thought she was opening a flower shop, but they were wrong.
Camella instead was a bar, which made the neighbors, especially the elderly ones, angry. However, as the drama goes, the bar would serve a very important purpose - being the refuge of frustrated men, from husbands to brothers, from fathers to sons.
