On May 11, the actor Jin Goo got a little too candid about how he got his "Descendants of the Sun" role. He appeared as a guest on the KBS 2TV show, "Problem Child in House," and shared funnily how he was offered the project by the screenwriter Kim Eun Sook.

Jin Goo Talks How He Got "Descendants of the Sun" Role

During this episode, Jin Goo first expressed his gratitude toward screenwriter Kim Eun Sook, who wrote the highly-watched, widely-loved, "Descendants of the Sun." He expressed how elated he was he heard about the possible casting. The actor even said he would have gotten whatever character that would be offered him at the time because he was simply very grateful.

"Kim Eun Sook is a master and when she said that she wanted to cast me, I didn't care if it was a tough guy role or not, I was grateful to have been chosen. Thankfully, I think that she created a character who fits me perfectly," he shared.

The actor was then asked how he was cast in the first place, and he surprisingly shared that it all actually started out as a joke between him and the screenwriter.

According to him, the screenwriter only thought of casting him when he made her bibim guksu or spicy mixed noodles. He did not even intentionally plan to make some or give any to her. Instead, he was just learning how to cook for a movie he was doing at the time, "Le Grand Chef," and out of the blue, he had a meeting with the screenwriter.

"We greeted each other and became friendly, and she asked if I would make her something good. She said that a lot of famous people often visited the writers' office and she said she'd set something up for me. I ended up making her bibim guksu but she remembered that and brought it up again later."

Something must have been inside the noodles he made because he said it was his ticket to "beat out a competition of 2000 to 1." He did not even know that the competition was that steep at the time. As a sign of how good of an actor he is, it is important to note that it was only his first-ever time to have gone to an audition.

Jin Goo's Audition Was Hard

He recalled how difficult the audition, though, and said he did not think he would make it. He thought the opposite because when it was his turn to speak with the panel of three people, he felt "disrespectful" and thought that the panel was going "on the offensive" against him. He did not know that they were merely testing him.

He recounted how he did not memorize the script and when he honestly told the panel that he was essentially accused of being drunk. Even though he was eventually allowed to just read the script during the audition, he did not feel like he stood a chance afterward.

When he walked out of the room, the director called after him. When he heard the call, he thought the director wanted to annoy him further. He felt angry, so he turned around to supposedly give the director a piece of his mind, only to be greeted with astounding news.

He was told to cut his hair because he was already cast.

Although he made it, he shared that he was warned not to take the opportunity for granted.

The actor also shared that he did not that "Descendants of the Sun" was going to go that big. When he watched it with his mom and found out how big of a deal it is, his hands even shook.

Jin Goo plays Master Sergeant Seo Dae-young (a.k.a. Wolf) in the top-rated show. He is the most senior among the non-commissioned officers of the Alpha Team. he was also Si-Jin's right-hand man and best friend at the same time. In terms of his personality - he is portrayed as being very principled, very loyal to his commanding officer while being very strict to his own subordinates.

It is obvious that Jin Goo plays someone very far from his own fun personality.
