Back in March, after a long hiatus, Lee Young Ae is confirmed to be starring in a new thriller drama, titled "Koo Kyung." The translation for the title in English is "A Wonderful Sight."
Lee Young Ae New 2021: Actress Plays Koo Kyung, a Wily Investigator
Koo Kyung is also reportedly the Asian "Killing Eve," which stars the renowned former "Grey's Anatomy" star and a Korean herself, Sandra Oh, as well as Jodie Comer.
"Killing Eve" is a female-centered thriller, a dark comedy series that had two females, one detective and one assassin playing one big, fun, and twisty cat-and-mouse game with each other. It is a big hit in the United Kingdom, and even outside of it.
That said, "Koo Kyung" will be the Korean retelling of this show. Not everything will be an exact copy of course, since K-drama showrunners certainly know how to create their own twists and turns.
However, it will still be centered around two women, one an insurance investigator and the other a serial killer.

The role of the insurance investigator, named Koo Kyung (hence the title) is now confirmed to be Lee Young Ae's. Kyung is her 40s and is a former police officer so she knows how to scrutinize shady insurance claims and has the impeccable wits of cracking cold cases.
She will meet her match in the person of a female serial killer, who will reportedly hide in the guise of someone hip, trendy, and fun - technically someone who looks like she cannot hurt a fly.
Since this is Lee Young Ae's comeback show, the hype to see her being fast and wily is almost palpable. One can note that Lee Young Ae's past shows tend to show her in a very kind (albeit wise) and very pure light. To see her in a character of a different caliber is going to be fun.
Can She Be The Next Sandra Oh?
Naturally, it appears that her role is equivalent to Sandra Oh's character in "Killing Eve." Oh plays Eve Polastri, a spy and a security officer and her performance have garnered tremendous praises. For this role, she became the first actress of Asian descent to be nominated for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.
This role allowed her to win the Best Actress award at the 2019 Golden Globes. It can be remembered how Oh got so emotional she thanked her Korean parents for attaining this prestigious award.
"There are two people here tonight that I'm so grateful they're here with me. I'd like to thank my mother and my father," she said.
"Umma and appa, saranghaeyo (mom and dad, I love you.)."
Fun trivia: Sandra Oh's Korean name is Oh Mi-ju.
"Killing Eve" has just finished showing season 3 and as this is a British drama, the spy and the supposed villain, played by Comer, actually fell in love with each other. Season 4 premiers in 2022.
It remains to be seen if "Koo Kyung" would have that twist.
