‘Racket Boys’ Cast and PD Attend Online Press Conference + Hints About Challenges and Story of the Upcoming SBS Sports Drama

The whole cast showed their support for the much-awaited debut of "Racket Boys."

In a recently concluded online press conference, the actors and PD Jo Young Kwang appeared to welcome the viewers to the upcoming SBS drama.

Lead stars Kim Sang Kyung and Oh Na Ra, together with the young actors Tang Jun Sang, Son Sang Yeon, Choi Hyun Wook, and Kim Kang Hoon, graced the event with enthusiasm as they introduced a whole new level of drama and sports.

"Racket Boys" is the first-ever badminton-based drama that revolves around the lives of a group of 16-year-old students of Haenam Middle School and their hopes to become the next badminton star.

"Racket Boys" PD Talks About the Upcoming Sports Drama

Director Jo Young Kwang began by hinting at the key points in the new drama during the press conference.

He mentioned that the series is not only focused on the game but also illustrates the struggles and challenges of the students in order to fulfill their lifelong dream.

Moreover, the PD also highlighted that the forthcoming drama will be relatable not just to sports fanatics but can be enjoyed by viewers of all ages.

"It is an exercise that is close to our daily lives and can be enjoyed by anyone of all ages. But the reality is that we do not pay much attention other than the Olympics."

Kim Sang Kyung On his Role as a Badminton Coach in "Racket Boys"

The 49-year-old actor, who plays badminton coach Yoon Hyun Jong, revealed that as soon as he read the script, he instantly fell in love with the warmth of the story.

Moreover, he also went on to describe the storyline as something exciting and "rare."

"As soon as I saw the script, I thought it was a necessary drama for our country," he explained, adding, "It's a drama that can suddenly ring when I'm caught off guard while having a lot of fun."

Oh Na Ra Spoke About Being a Legendary Badminton Player in Upcoming SBS Drama

Meanwhile, award-winning actress Oh Na Ra who portrays a legendary badminton player, Ra Young Ja, shared how she prepared for the role as a badminton coach.

During the conference, she mentioned that she watched a lot of badminton videos and studied their every move.

Moreover, the actress also pointed out that a different Oh Na Ra will appear in the Korean drama "Racket Boys."

"In this work, she doesn't care about fashion and looks easy-going. It would be refreshing for you to show that," she added.

Prior to the press conference, SBS recently dropped new stills and videos featuring the lead stars of the forthcoming sports drama.

The latest teaser featured the difference between training the boys and girls of the Haenam Middle School badminton team.

Moreover, the preview also illustrates the students' passion, friendship, and companionship to attain one goal.

"Racket Boys" is set to premiere on May 31 with a total of 16 episodes that will air every Monday and Tuesday.

Aside from SBS, this will also be released on streaming platform Netflix.
