Korean entertainment is now expanding their network and is about to make a Korean remake of the famous Venezuelan telenovela "Jane the Virgin."
Lim Soo Hyang as the Korean Version of Jane
On July 6, various media outlets confirmed that actress Lim Soo Hyang was chosen to lead the upcoming Korean adaptation of "Jane the Virgin." The "My ID is Gangnam Beauty" star will be portraying the character of Lee Soo Jung.
The Romantic-comedy series "Jane the Virgin" will tell the story of a woman who wishes to keep her virginity until she finds the right man and gets married. On her regular checkup schedule with her doctor, Lee Soo Jung found out that she is pregnant with a child of the 2nd generation chaebol.
The drama is based on Perla Farias' "Juana la Virgen" in 2002. "Jane the Virgin" already has a five-season series on the US CWTV that premiered in October 2014 and concluded on July 31, 2019.
Expectations for this upcoming adaptation started to arise since it received various nominations and awards in America.

Things to Know About Lim Soo Hyang's New Drama Role
The "Graceful Family" actress is expected to portray Lee Soo Jung's character, a graduating college student of Korea University who majors in Korean Language Education. She is very determined to keep her purity before getting married. Lee Soo Jung doesn't want to follow in the footsteps of her mother, who had accidentally got pregnant at the age of eighteen and just left her in the custody of her grandmother.
Lee Soo Jung is a character who has learned a tough lesson in her early stage of life and will experience a big change after an unexpected event happens in her life.
Writer Jang A Mi will pen the script for the Korean remake and production company Group8 is the one in charge to produce the series. Meanwhile, other cast lineups are yet to be confirmed, same as with the release date of "Jane the Virgin."
This will be Lim Soo Hyang's drama comeback following "When I Was The Most Beautiful" in 2020. She already portrayed lots of challenging drama and movie roles and impressed the viewers with her excellent acting.
In fact, Lim Soo Hyang won as Best Actress in the 2020 MBC Drama Awards for the series "When I Was The Most Beautiful" and was able to take home the Excellent Actress Award in 2017 KBS Drama Awards for her performance in "Lovers in Bloom."
"Jane the Virgin" will be Lim Soo Hyang's drama comeback following "When I Was The Most Beautiful" in 2020.
