From BLACKPINK Jisoo to K-Drama Star Jisoo

To recall, BLACKPINK's Jisoo, whose real name is Kim Ji Soo, is set to make her grand debut as a lead actress in an upcoming JTBC drama.

She will be working alongside the powerhouse cast, including Jung Hae In, Jang Seung Jo, Kim Hye Yoon, Yoon Se Ah, and "Goblin" star Yoo In Na.

Helmed by "SKY Castle" director Jo Hyun Taek and penned by veteran screenwriter Yoo Hyun Mi, Jisoo's K-drama follows the story of two Seoul university students Eun Young Cho, played by the BLACKPINK member and Im Soo Ho, portrayed by the "Prison Playbook" actor, who found themselves in a middle of political turmoil.

Set in the late 1980s, this is when South Korea is being ruled by a dictatorial government and fighting for their democracy.

Snowdrop Controversy

With this, "Snowdrop" faced controversy after a leaked synopsis circulated on the internet stating that the male lead portrays a spy character who "infiltrated the activist movement."

Following this, some netizens expressed their disapproval and gained criticism for romanticizing the spy agency.

However, JTBC released an official statement denying the allegations of historical distortion.

In a lengthy statement, the broadcast network explained that the upcoming K-drama "is a black comedy that satirizes the presidential elections" and a "melodrama about the young men and women who were victims of that situation."

Despite these circumstances, rumor sparked that BLACKPINK's Jisoo's "Snowdrop" is set to premiere on December 3 every Friday and Saturday.

In addition, the highly anticipated K-drama will have a total of 20 episodes which means fans would get to see more of Jisoo as an actress.

BLACKPINK Jisoo Receives Foodtruck from Lisa and Jennie

Prior to the "Snowdrop" controversy, Jisoo expressed her gratitude towards her fellow girl group members after receiving coffee and snack trucks on the set.

Over BLACKPINK's Jisoo's Instagram, she posted a video clip flaunting the mobile trucks on the "Snowdrop" set which Jennie and Lisa sent.
