Netflix continues to entice fans with captivating and intriguing teasers of "Kingdom: Ashin of the North" featuring Jun Ji Hyun.

The streaming giant recently unveiled a series of new still cuts of the much-awaited "Kingdom" spin-off.

'Kingdom: Ashin of the North' Shares Glimpse of Ashin's Odyssey

With this, the special episode hints at Ashin, played by the Hallyu queen, and her challenging journey to the north, which is said to be the start of a huge tragedy that overturned Joseon.

"It's vast, quiet. Very lonely. The place where everything started. I have captured the northern part of the country with the secret of the origin of Saengsacho. Another world's beauty not seen in the previous Kingdom. The time to meet Ashin of the North is July 23," the caption reads.

As seen in the photos, the environment was far different from "Kingdom" seasons 1 and 2 as the northern part was engulfed with a chilly atmosphere.

At one point, the still cuts depict Ashin's approach to survive and seek revenge after her town, including her family, was conquered by the plague.

'Kingdom: Ashin of the North' PD Hints at New Attractions to the Upcoming Spin-Off

According to a local outlet, "Kingdom: Ashin of the North," director Kim Sung Hoon spoke about the difference between the location of the upcoming spin-off of and mega-hit K-zombie series.

In the interview, the PD mentioned that he was able to "capture another world's beauty" that was not seen in the previous drama.

His statement suggests that the special episode would feature new attractions that would definitely draw the public's interest in the mysterious character.

In addition, the team had to find a location that would link the Joseon era's mysterious and bizarre culture by showing the lifestyle in the north.

This includes the icy white snow, vast lands, and deep dark forest highlighting the deserted scenery representing Ashin's emotion of losing her family and home.

"Kingdom: Ashin of the North" is set to unravel the mysterious character of Ashin and the origin of the purple flower known as the resurrection plant that is believed to bring the dead back to life.

Moreover, the special episode also hints at Ashin's attempt to seek vengeance for the loss of her family and tribe, as seen on the "Kingdom 2" finale.

To recall, that was the time where Jun Ji Hyun's character was introduced in the hit K-zombie series.

In the last episode, Crown Prince Lee Chang, played by Ju Ji Hoon and Seo Bi, portrayed by Bae Doo Na, found the resurrection plant near the Chinese border and were told by the locals that someone was selling it.

However, a cryptic image of Ashin flashed on the screen where she was smiling mysteriously.

This raises the curiosity whether her character was involved in the widespread tragedy, killing hundreds of innocent people.

The Cast and Release Date

Aside from the iconic actress, the "Kingdom: Ashin of the North" cast also includes Kim Shi Ah as the young Ashin, while her on-screen father, Ta Hab, is played by the veteran actor Kim Roe Ha.

Joining the cast is Koo Kyo Hwan as Ai Da Gan and Park Byung Eun, who will reprise his role as Royal Commendantry member Min Chi Rok.

Amid the captivating teasers, fans need not to worry as the highly anticipated "Kingdom: Ashin of the North" release date slated on July 23.
