The "My Girl and I" actor takes on the role of a veteran detective with a rough and blunt personality, who works as a professor in a university.

Cha Tae Hyun said, "When I read the script for the first time, it was easy to read, and I could picture the situations in my head perfectly. For me, the collaborative investigation between the professor and the students who met at the university is an interesting element in the drama."

How Cha Tae Hyun Prepares for His Police University Role

"I envisioned myself as a veteran detective and tried to gain the spirit and aura of that character," the 'Along with the God: The Two Worlds' actor shared.

He went on, "I can't count how many times we wilmed chase and action scenes where bodies of actors collide. I tried to express this part realistically. I am different when I am in the action scene from my character as a professor. I focused on these differences because my character exudes different charisma when teaching and in action."

He further stated, "When I have a new drama, I project bits of myself into the character a lot. But with Yoo Dong Man, it's effortless. We seem to have a lot of similarities. Though it doesn't show up on the outside, we have a similar personality in which we are loyal, determined, and honest. We both put others first before us. We take great care of the people close to our hearts."

With this, he raised the bar of expectation and anticipation higher. Fans are clamoring to watch the new KBS romance drama.

Cha Tae Hyun concluded with a brief message of encouragement to the viewers, "Take care of your health during this global pandemic. Please give 'Police University' lots of interest and love as we worked hard for this project."

KBS' new romance drama 'Police University' helmed by Yoo Gwan Mo also stars actress Hong Soo Hyun, Lee Jong Hyuk, f(x)'s Krystal Jung, and former B1A4 member Jung Jin Young and is scheduled to be aired on August 9.
