Jang Ki Yong is set to take time off in the limelight as his agency announced his plans to enlist in the military.

It came after YG Entertainment confirmed that the "My Roommate Is a Gumiho" star will be participating in the mandatory military service.

With this, Jang Ki Yong's agency shared that his enlistment date will be on August 23, adding that this move is after completing his filming session for the upcoming K-drama "Now, We are Breaking Up," alongside Song Hye Kyo.

"Actor Jang Ki Yong will enlist as an active-duty soldier on August 23 after concluding filming for his drama 'Now, We Are Breaking Up.'"

To prevent the spread of COVID-19, the location and time of his enlistment will not be revealed," the official statement reads as obtained by a local outlet.

Furthermore, YG entertainment also seeks support for the 28-year-old star as he "completes his mandatory service and returns in good health."

The South Korea heartthrob recently concluded his webtoon-based fantasy K-drama "My Roommate Is a Gumiho," opposite singer-actress Lee Hyeri.

In the drama, Jang Ki Yong made millions of fans swoon over his role as the charming Shin Woo Yeo, the 999-year-old nine-tailed fox, a.k.a gumiho.

Moreover, both the actor and the Girl's Day member also exudes undeniable chemistry as they portray as on-screen lovers.

After successfully wrapping up the tvN drama on July 15, the "Search: WWW" star spoke about his character and experience filming the top-rating fantasy series.

During the interview, he shared that the whole team had a good time after spending six months filming the K-drama, adding that his co-stars and crew "we're amazing."

"This is the first time I have laughed a lot from beginning to finish while working on a project. The director, writer, cast, and crew's energy was incredible, and because of that energy, I had fun acting on the set. It feels like I went on a cool trip with amazing people."

Furthermore, he shared that "My Roommate Is a Gumiho" is a meaningful project to him and hopes that the fans would remember "it as a project full of laughter and happiness as well."

As for working with Lee Hyeri, Jang Ki Yong said that he is comfortable working alongside the 27-year-old beauty.

Jang Ki Yong is set to lead the forthcoming K-drama "Now, We are Breaking Up" with Song Hye Kyo.

The soon-to-be-released SBS drama is scheduled to premiere on November 12 every Friday and Saturday.

Jang Ki Yong will take on the role of Yoon Jae Guk, a rich freelance photographer, while the Hallyu queen is set to be the fashion design team manager Ha Young Eun.

Interestingly, this will be the Hallyu queen's return to the small screen following her 2018 drama "Encounter."

As for the South Korean heartthrob, this will be his last project before going to the military enlistment.
