When asked about his unforgettable character, the 27-year-old actor mentioned the tvN series with veteran actor Park In Hwan.
He confessed that it was his role that took him a long time to adapt.
To recall, in K-drama "Navillera," Song Kang played the role of a 23-year-old professional ballerino, Lee Chae Rok.
Despite being introduced to different kinds of sports like soccer, baseball, and more, he still chooses ballet and appears to inherit the talent of her late mother, who was a former ballerina herself.
Unfortunately, due to his father's case, he had a hard time supporting himself, causing him to lose interest in the dance.
Luckily, he crossed paths with the 70-year-old Shim Deok Chul, whose lifelong dream is to perform on stage and dance "Swan Lake."
Song Kang Spent 6 Months to Train Ballet
Interestingly, in his previous interview, he revealed that he went to rigorous ballet training for six months to prepare for his role.
At the time, the South Korean star shared that he focused on the details like his facial expressions and how he moves.
"I tried not to look awkward by focusing on improving the lines, feelings of my moves and gaze rather than executing difficult movements," he explained, adding "Of course, it was my first time doing ballet, so I was very clumsy and tired, but I started to have more fun as I improved over time. Then I studied and worked harder to prepare for the role."
Meanwhile, the choreographer who monitors Song Kang and Park In Hwan praised the young actor's acquisition skills, impressive flexibility, and jumping ability.
Although the production team used stunt doubles to illustrate the expert and tricky moves, several dancing scenes were portrayed by the "Love Alarm" star himself.
Song Kang Live Up to the Hype of 'Nevertheless'
Currently, the South Korean heartthrob is creating a buzz through his character as Park in Jeon in JTBC's "Nevertheless" opposite Han So Hee.
In the webtoon-based drama, he plays the campus crush who struggles to express his emotions, causing him to hurt the movie he loves.
In Song Kang's K-drama, he also lost weight purposely so he would look like the webtoon character. Multiple outlets mentioned that the actor was able to shed 5 kilos ahead of the production.
