She played the role of Mi Nyeo, which translates to "beauty," who "Squid Game" viewers loved and hated at the same time.

On October 9, Kim Joo Ryung shared her feelings on the Netflix series "Squid Game" through her agency, Just Entertainment.
She portrayed Mi Nyeo, a person who has nothing to hide from the society to live and to earn money. The actress deeply studied Mi Nyeo in order to achieve her desired goal for the character.
With her thorough analysis of the character, she gave an excellent performance despite being an anti-hero in the drama. Because of this, her Instagram followers skyrocketed.
"My original number of followers was 400 but today, there are over 1.68 million people who are following me. It didn't feel right, I didn't know what was going on," she laughs, "Even overseas fans are following me, too. I am grateful for them and their messages of support. Thank you to everyone, I receive a lot of attention and love from many people."

She also joked about having more followers, "Now that I have millions of followers, I want to be more careful with my words and actions."

"Squid Game" marks a new milestone as it tops Netflix Global Charts from all over the world. Although, the actors-Lee Jung Jae, Park Hae Soo, Wi Ha Joon, Jung Ho Yeon, and more-never thought that it would be such a huge hit.
Kim Joo Ryung shares, "When I first read the script, I instantly fell in love with it. But it was a bit unrealistic because I didn't imagine it would become a box office hit and boom up to this point. Being a part of the work makes me proud and honored as an actor."

She revealed that "Squid Game" isn't the first time she is working with the director. Kim Joo Ryung said, "I worked with Hwang Dong Hyuk for the movie "The Crucible." When we saw each other in the 2019 film "Government," he complimented me about my acting performance. After that, he asked me about my schedule and plans for 2020. Then earlier this year, I received a script from his assistant. It was like a dream and I am honestly grateful to director Hwang Dong Hyuk, who offered me the role of Han Mi Nyeo."
Kim Joo Ryung Reveals Her Plans if She Wins 45.6 Billion Won
In the series, hopeless people who are drowning in billions of debt joined the survival game in hopes of winning the total grand prize of 45.6 billion won.
When asked what she would do with the money, she laughed and answered honestly, "I will buy a house and deposit about two billion in my bank account. The rest of the money will be used to create a scholarship foundation for students who are working hard at home and abroad. When my husband and I were studying in the United States, we received a lot of help, too." Finally, she concluded, "Thank you for loving "Squid Game" and Han Mi Nyeo. I promise to stay healthy and see you in more work."
According to the actress, there is no particular kind of work she wants to do yet as it is hard to surpass Han Mi Nyeo's impact, but she promises to come back better in her future projects.
