'Squid Game' Star Heo Sung Tae Reveals He Gained More Followers After the Drama
Heo Sung Tae, the man hated and loved at the same time by many in the blockbuster series "Squid Game", made a guest appearance as a special MC in the popular SBS variety show "My Little Old Boy."
He wowed the viewers as well as the celebrity moms in the show. According to them, he is much "less scary" than they had expected in person, based on his performance as the antihero Deok Su in "Squid Game."
Host Shin Dong Yup asked if he could feel the huge change in his popularity after "Squid Game", Heo Sung Tae said, "Nothing really changed in my daily life. I still go to work and go home like I normally do."
"The biggest change is that my Instagram followers have risen a huge amount," he continued. According to the actor, he only had 10,000 followers before the release of the drama but after one month, he had over 2.2 million followers.

When asked if he would join a real-life "Squid Game" in a hypothetical setting where he is drowned in debt and living paycheck to paycheck, Heo Sung Tae answered honestly, "I don't know. Maybe not. I'd rather just spend the rest of my life paying my debt. I'm too scared to die."
The 44-year-old actor, who showed great performance in the hit series "Squid Game", is set to return to the silver screen with an upcoming film "Hunt."
Heo Sung Tae On Reuniting with Co-Star Lee Jung Jae
After both leading "Squid Game," Heo Sung Tae and Lee Jung Jae are reuniting as actor-director in the upcoming film "Hunt."
"Hunt" marks Lee Jung Jae's directorial debut. When asked if it felt different working with Lee Jung Jae this time as actor-director, Heo Sung Tae answered that they are much closer now.
"During "Squid Game," we mainly talked so we could act together comfortably," he said with honesty, "But now, we joke around more often. We even greet each other differently. When I arrive on set, director Lee Jung Jae jokingly bows and says "Our global star has arrived!"."

He added, "I'll bow and greet him back and say, "Ssangmun-dong (Lee Jung Jae's character in "Squid Game"), why are you being like this?"."
Heo Sung Tae and Lee Jung Jae's "Hunt" is scheduled to air at the latest part of 2021.
'Squid Game' Star Heo Sung Tae Reveals the Scariest Scene He Filmed in the Drama
As the "Squid Game" was all about survival, the characters had to be brave and tough. When asked about the scene that was hardest to film, Heo Sung Tae shared his TMI news.
"I am extremely afraid of heights," he revealed, "I even have to stay in the middle when I walk on an overpass. So the glass bridge scene was really hard for me."

"Deok Su (his character) shouldn't be scared," he said, "So I pretended like I wasn't afraid. But on the inside, I was shaking. I'd hold onto something and shake my worries away before filming. I'd only act brave when the cameras started rolling, and as soon as they yelled "Cut!," I'd go back to quivering."
According to the actor, they filmed the scene with only one take, 10 feet above the ground with precautionary measures.
