Meet 'The Silent Sea' Cast

Helmed by PD Choi Hang Yong and penned by "Neverending Story" screenwriter Park Eun Kyo, Bae Doona, and Gong Yoo's new drama is produced by none other than award-winning actor Jung Woo Sung.

In the drama, the versatile actress took on the role of space biologist Song Ji An.

Her goal is to find and uncover the secret behind the accident that happened at the research station.

The female astrobiologist works with the special space team leader Han Yoon Jae, played by Gong Yoo.

He and his team were tasked with a critical mission to recover the samples from the research station for further studies.

Joining Han Yoon Jae's special team is the skilled engineer Ryu Tae Seok, portrayed by Lee Joon.

Apart from the trio, viewers would get to see the "Squid Game" villain Heo Sung Tae, who is set to take the character of Kim Jae Sun, the South Korean Aviation Administration's leader.

In addition, "The World of the Married" actor Lee Moo Saeng will also appear as Gong Soo Hyuk alongside "Crash Landing on You" actress Kim Sun Young.

Initially, "The Silent of the Sea" is a short film directed by Choi Hang Yong, but it was created to an eight-part series Kdrama.

At the Netflix event titled "See What's Next Korea" back in February 2021, Jung Woo Sung revealed what prompted him to recreate the film into a series.

"I happened to see the short film seven years ago. I loved the idea, so I wanted to make a longer version, and I started to take on the challenge without fear. I've ended up producing it after coming together with this amazing cast," he said.

Meanwhile, Bae Doona gave the audience a hint regarding the upcoming sci-fi series.

At the event, he mentioned that "The Silent of the Sea" has "two hidden cards."

"Other projects may have stories about teams who leave for space because there's a lack of food and water, but 'The Silent Sea' has something that goes beyond that," the actress explained.

Moreover, the award-winning star also shared that she said yes to the offer because of the story's captivating subject.
