Red Velvet Joy dished out her thoughts on her new acting role and upcoming melodrama "Only One Person" before its much anticipated premiere. The singer and actress also talked about her fellow stars Kang Ye Won and Ahn Eun Jin.

Red Velvet Joy as Sung Mi Do in 'Only One Person'

"Only One Person" is a melodrama that depicts the stories of three terminally ill women who meet unexpectedly. Before they die, they want to take down "only one person," but soon end up meeting the most important person in their lives.

In the drama, Red Velvet transforms into social media influencer Sung Mi Do, who overthinks what other people think of her.

The actress shared her thoughts on Sung Mi Do, saying, "She is a person who hides behind her perfect and bright life but in reality, she is weak and covered with wounds from her childhood.

When Sung Mi Do receives her diagnosis that she only has numbered days to live, she doesn't worry about herself but how her "followers" would react.

When asked about how Red Velvet Joy prepared to portray Sung Mi Do, she said that she paid extra attention to her styling, wardrobe and make up as she is a trendy influencer.

The actress said, "I did a lot of research so I'd be able to portray Sung Mi Do's honest personality. Though she is feisty, she has a warm and pure heart. I tried to analyze her personality and chose to portray her with a bubbly tone."

Red Velvet Joy shared that her goal is to express Sung Mi Do's unique mindset of enjoying the present time as if it was the last.

JTBC's "Only One Person" marks Red Velvet Joy, Ahn Eun Jin and Kang Ye Won's first drama together.

In the drama, their characters', who are all equally ill, eventually become friends. Joy said she was touched by Sung Mi Do's relationship with Pyo In Sook and Kang Se Yeon, played by Ahn Eun Jin and Kang Ye Won respectively.

The three women grew up in very different environments so they weren't on the best of terms at first. However, the three eventually become closer than family through empathy and compassion as they end up before death.

Joy also shared her excitement when she received the casting confirmation, saying, "I wanted to challenge myself and my teamwork with good actors. I've always thought Ahn Eun Jin and Kang Ye Won were cool, so I feel immense pressure."

"But they always take great care of me and help me with my acting. I'm the youngest and I really feel their support and comfort, so I'm always filming with a grateful heart," she concluded.

Red Velvet Joy aims to deliver warmth and comfort as Sung Mi Do to those who also suffered from the same pain and wounds while growing up. Through her new character, she also wants to convey the beauty of opening up her heart and learning how to be compassionate.

Moreover, JTBC's "Only One Person" airs its first episode on Monday, December 20 at 11:00 p.m. KST.
