‘The Red Sleeve Cuff’ Episode 12: Lee Junho Becomes the New King, Asks Lee Se Young to be His Wife

In "The Red Sleeve Cuff" episode 12, Yi San (Lee Junho) is finally hailed as the new king. Though he already has the power, the royal highness is still in the process of fighting his feelings for Court Lady Sung Deok Im (Lee Se Young).

'The Red Sleeve Cuff' Episode 12: Sung Deok Im Helps King Yeongjo Remember the 'Document of Truth'

On her way to save the crown prince with Queen Jungsoon (Jang Hee Jin), Sung Deok Im was very determined to tell about the Document of Truth that was written and sealed by King Yeongjo (Lee Deok Hwa) and the late crown prince (Do Sang Woo).

When she was about to speak, Court Lady Jo (Park Ji Young) entered the room and tried to stop her from her plan. Not until a thunderstorm occurred which Sung Deok Im used an opportunity to tell the king about the written promise. After struggling to remember where it was hidden, King Yeongjo found the sealed document where he promised to the late crown prince that in exchange for killing him, King Yeongjo would turn over the throne to Yi San.

The king called Princess Hwawan (Seo Hyo Rim) to pass the royal seal to Yi San as a sign that a new leader was about to rule the palace. Kang Tae Ho (Oh Dae Hwan) told the good news to Court Lady Seo (Jang Hye Jin) that the crown prince will now be in charge of the office of the night patrol in the palace with the help of the king's guards.

Court Lady Jo End Herself In Front of King Yeongjo

Meanwhile, Court Lady Jo started to get rid of her possessions inside the Gwanghan Palace for she no longer has the power to rule the organization. The king called her to visit the palace, during their conversation, the court lady confessed that the reason why he tried to hurt the crown prince was to get revenge from King Yeongjo. She still has the grudge over him for abandoning her in the past.

After telling each other the regrets they had in life, Court Lady Jo took a small knife in her pocket and used it to end her life in front of King Yeongjo. The king was shocked by what the court lady did and ended up crying about losing a colleague.

On the other hand, as a great son that he is, Secretary Jung Baek Ik (Kwon Hyun Bin) made a big sacrifice in exchange to save the life of his mother, Princess Hwawan.

Yi San Starts His Journey as the New King + Asks Sung Deok Im to Be His Wife

While feeding his grandfather, King Yeongjo, Yi San sits closely to him and listens to his words. Minutes after their short conversation, the king died in the arms of his grandson. Yi San was feeling emotional for even though he has grudges for the king after killing his father, Yi San still has the care and love for him.

Yi San finally began his reign as the new king of Joseon. Looking superior with his Red robe, the royal highness is full of determination to fulfill his duty as the new leader of the palace. Sung Deok Im went to deliver the medicine to Yi San but she waited for an hour for him because he was busy with his duties.

Inside the room, while the court lady was handling the medicine, Yi San told Deok Im that he needs her by her side, not a court lady but his wife whom he wants to share the rest of his life with. The new king doesn't want to pressure the court lady and gave her days to chew it over. Before Deok Im leaves, Yi San confessed he wants to build a family with her, leaving the court lady astonished.
