Will Jung Hae In and BLACKPINK Jisoo's Career Suffer Because of the 'Snowdrop' Controversy?
According to an outlet, viewers pointed out that Jung Hae In should be meticulous when accepting offers.
"He really should have been more careful when choosing his next project," one mentioned, while the other wrote the same sentiment saying "Well you can't really foretell if a drama would be successful just by receiving the script."
As for the singer-actress, fans have mixed reactions towards Jisoo headlining the cast of "Snowdrop."
Over Twitter, fans voiced their love for the 26-year-old star but fully supported the petition to cancel "Snowdrop" pointing out that the melodrama is "romanticizing" a tumultuous era.
Released on December 18, Jung Hae In and BLACKPINK Jisoo's Kdrama focuses on the love story of two individuals, a North Korean spy and a South Korean student who met at a chaotic time during the 1987 presidential election.
The late 1980s was a pivotal time for South Korea's pro-democracy movement.
Unfortunately, despite the much-anticipated debut, "Snowdrop" was hit with the second petition to cancel the Kdrama.
Over 200,000 signatures reached the Blue House, petitioning to revoke the broadcast of the melodrama.
"It claimed that the drama does not center around the pro-democracy movement and that there are no references about the main characters participating in the democratization movement. However, the female lead character saves the life of a North Korean spy after mistaking him as an activist in the pro-democracy movement in the first episode," the appeal reads.
Moreover, the petition also criticized the show for defaming "the value and reputation of the democratization movement."
