Choi Woo Sik Dishes Out Thoughts on K-Drama Fever in Western Countries
According to the actor, "Parasite," his worldwide acclaimed film, had immesenly affected how he views his career. After attending the Cannes Film Festival and the Academy Awards, he had a lot of concerns about his future career.
The immense popularity the Hallyu receives doesn't go unnoticed. Choi Woo Sik talked about the popular Netflix series "Squid Game." The actor looks forward to doing a drama or a film that people abroad can be interested in.

"I thought I'd get a lot of offers internationally after "Parasite," but this wasn't the case. I did get offers but not as much as I thought I would," he honestly said. "The Netflix series "Squid Game" answered the question for me about my "Hollywood dream."
Goals for the New Year, Roles to Portray, Genres to Try and More
The actor mentioned his plan on bulking up as his goal for the new year, as he wants to show a new side that would suit him well.
"I wanted to look for masculine and gain muscles so I can try new roles," he added honestly after getting limited roles due to his rather slimmer body.
Since the film industry is struck by the threat of COVID-19, it hasn't been the same since. But Choi Woo Sik expressed his desire to work internationally.
He said, "I speak English fluently so I want to try working in a well-produced Korean film or drama that gets released globally."
Choi Woo Sik is a Canadian citizen who grew up in Canada before moving back to Korea to pursue his dream of becoming an actor.
Choi Woo Sik on 'The Policeman's Lineage'
On the other hand, the actor is set to return to the silver screens with the new investigative film "The Policeman's Lineage" with actor Jo Jin Woong.
It follows the dangerous story that unfolds between the ace of the investigation unit and a principled police officer who receives the task of secretly observing him.
The drama stars Choi Woo Sik as the principled police officer Choi Min Jae, who takes on the task of tailing his colleague in exchange for a confidential document about his father. Opposite Jo Jin Woong who plays the role of Park Kang Yoon, the ace of the investigation unit who will do anything, even illegal things, just to gain information and arrest criminals.
When asked about what to expect in the drama, Choi Woo Sik commented, "It's a refreshing film where I can show the side of me wearing classy suits full of flair."
He also added that the emotional and action aspects are also one of the things to anticipate in the drama, after he worked hard in perfecting his action stunts during filming.
Choi Woo Sik revealed that he decided to join the production of the film because of Jo Jin Woong, whom he wanted to work with ever since.
"We had great chemistry so I have no regrets. I showcased a diverse set of emotions," Choi Woo Sik said, "I'd like to work with him again where our roles don't need to fight each other."
Choi Woo Shik and Jo Jin Woong's "The Policeman's Lineage" premieres in theaters nationwide on January 5.
