SBS TV's upcoming legal and crime drama "Through the Darkness" keeps adrenaline junkies amped, and reveals a new highlight video teaser of Kim Nam Gil, Jin Sun Kyu and Kim So Jin.

The drama, set in the late 1990s, depicts the story of the first criminal profiler of South Korea who looks into the hearts of the serial killers when the world of "profiling" didn't exist yet.

"Through the Darkness" stars Kim Nam Gil as Song Ha Young, a criminal profiler in the Criminal Behavior Analysis team of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency. Jin Sun Kyu plays the role of Kook Young Soo, a friend and colleague to Song Ha Young, who founded the behavioral analysis team. Kim So Jin portrays Yoon Tae Goo, the team leader of the Mobile Investigation Unit who uses her highly helpful instincts to solve criminal cases.

The newly released highlight video teaser begins with a news report stating that the police struggle to find evidence regarding the person in the red hat. Next, a woman hurriedly goes home despite the pouring rain as a mysterious person with a red baseball cap follows her behind, and soon attacks her inside her house, eliciting an ear-splitting scream.

Song Ha Young, who is determined to catch the culprits, asks to reopen an abduction case, but the police detectives get angry at him.

However, Song Ha Young's determination becomes more intense as a man remarks "He's not the criminal. If you don't capture the culprit, trouble will take place again."

Song Ha Young then mutters, "Criminals understand their fellow criminals' minds better." Because of his determination, his friend and colleague Kook Young Soo hands him a book that opens the world of the concept of criminal profiling. The book emphasizes the skills to understand other people's emotions.

Back then, people seemed unsure of their jobs as criminal profilers, but Song Ha Young calmly reassures that criminal profilers find out why an incident occurs and the reason behind it.

At the end of the highlight teaser, Yoon Tae Goo encourages him by building his morale. Song Ha Young concludes, "I will definitely catch the killer. I'll never give up."

Attention is focused on how the three veteran stars work together in catching culprits and give justice to their victims. They are also expected to exude great synergy as "Through the Darkness" marks their first project together in the lead roles.

"Through the Darkness" is based on the 2018 non-fiction book of the same name, co-written by Korea's first criminal profiler Kwon Il Yong and journalist-turned-author Ko Nam Woo.

Apart from the trio, actors Ryeoun, Lee Dae Yeon, Kim Won Hae, Kim Hye Ok and Jung Man Sik also participated in decorating the drama.

"Through the Darkness" is set to air for the first time on Friday, January 14 at 10:00 p.m. KST on SBS TV. It will also be available on Viki.
