‘The Red Sleeve Cuff’ Director Jung Ji In Wants to Work Again with Lee Junho and Lee Se Young in a New Drama

After the cast shared their memorable experiences in "The Red Sleeve Cuff" the drama's director Jung Ji In finally talks about the drama as a whole and how much she wants to work again with Lee Junho and Lee Se Young.

Director Jung Ji In Talks About the Hot Response of the Viewers for 'The Red Sleeve Cuff'

In her exclusive media interview, director Jung Ji In, one of the creative minds behind the success of MBC's "The Red Sleeve Cuff" expressed her feelings after the drama finished its run.

The director began by thanking all the actors and staff she worked with in the project and to the viewers who have been with them until the last episode. She added, "I believe in the power of the original script and expected a good response because I also believe in the energy and capabilities of the actors and staff at work."

Getting a lot of good responses from almost everybody reminded Jung Ji In of everyone in the field who's been struggling but still very proud to share great satisfaction with them.

For her, ratings were not that a big deal but receiving most of the calls from the viewers after episode 1 aired fascinated her and made her excited to work harder all throughout the project. She feels ecstatic also to know that there are still people watching the drama even though it already ended.

The Struggles Director Jung Ji In Experienced Due to the Overwhelming Support by the Viewers

But even though the drama gained lots of responses, there was also burden and pressure in it. She explained why it took her time before doing the media interview, according to the female director, "Since it's my first with such a hot response, I am happy but still puzzled for I am unfamiliar with this kind of attention that I am getting from the public." She continued, " I didn't know I would love this much, and I think I should have worked harder if I knew this would happen. I am not confident to review the series right away, but when I see it, I'll do my best to improve."

She also confessed that it was her first time to be interviewed and she got nervous and not sure of what to answer right after every question asked to her.

Director Jung Ji In mentioned that it took a long time before the project was purchased. It came to a point that even the staff and other actors were frustrated that the series might not happen anymore. Even the director herself was already at the edge of giving up the project, fortunately, the drama received attention and finally made it to production. At that time, actors Lee Deok Hwa, Jang Hye Jin, Oh Dae Hwan, and Bae Je Ki were already part of the original casting.

Jung Ji In also praised the drama's writer Jung Hae Ri who made such a masterpiece in writing the script. The director was grateful to be able to work with Hae Ri who always listened to her comments and suggestions. She mentioned that she had a great teamwork with Jung Hae Ri.

Jung Ji In Look Forward to Reuniting Again with Lee Junho and Lee Se Young in a Drama

Director Jung Ji In is also aware of the high demand of the public about getting Lee Junho and Lee Se Young again in a drama but in a modern era. She said '"The Red Sleeve Cuff" has been completed like the original. I heard that there is a side story connected to the drama but I have not thought about the modern version yet. I look forward to the emergence of more evolved forms of stories over time. But for the time being, I think 'The Red Sleeve Cuff' of Lee Junho and Lee Se young will be talked about for a long time because they really did a good job in portraying their characters."

Jung Ji In considered it as fate to be able to meet and work with Lee Junho and Lee Se young in a drama. She confessed that she had a great chemistry with the onscreen couple. The director wonders when her good relationship with Junho and Se Young will continue in the future.

She also gets honest that sometimes, she couldn't recognize the two stars without their historical costumes and makeup, and she couldn't imagine what they would look like when they do modern dramas. Before Jung Ji In concluded her interview, she expressed her desire to work again with Lee Junho and Lee Se Young in the future and she is already looking forward to seeing both of them again.
