Currently, Bae Doona is gaining the attention of fans worldwide with the hit sci-fi series "The Silent Sea."

The 42-year-old South Korean star took on the role of astrobiologist Song Ji An who is among the elite space crew sent on the secret mission to a lunar base known as "silent sea."

With hopes of retrieving a vital sample to save humanity from massive drought, the group went on a special escapade only to find a survivor and the lunar water.

Based on the short film "Sea of Tranquility" by Choi Hang Yong, who also directed the Netflix series, "The Silent Sea" was executive produced by award-winning actor Jung Woo Sung featuring the star-studded cast starting with Gong Yoo, MBLAQ's Lee Goon, Lee Moo Saeng, Kim Sun Young and "Kingdom: Ashin of the North" star Kim Shi Ah.

In one interview, Bae Doona spoke about playing Song Ji Ah and being part of a sci-fi series.

She revealed that the "strength of the characters and their emotions" made her accept the casting offer.

Moreover, the actress also shared the most challenging part of being in a sci-fi Kdrama.

"The most difficult part was that Song's role is to lead the audiences through the series."

The actress proceeded to describe Song as a secluded individual whose perspective develops as the story progresses. This was what made Bae Doona feel overwhelmed to portray the character's emotions delicately.

Released on December 24, "The Silent Sea" is still available exclusively on Netflix.
