The year opened with a binge-worthy show called "Single's Inferno," featuring 12 irresistibly gorgeous South Koreans, including Song Ji Ah, Kim Hyun Joong, Shin Ji Yeon, Oh Jin Taek and more.
What made the 8 part episode series differ from other reality dating shows such as "Love Island" and "Too Hot to Handle" is the option to spend a lavish day in a luxury hotel known as the "paradise" with their chosen participants; however, it needs to be mutual.
Unfortunately, at the height of the Netflix reality dating show and after gaining popularity worldwide, some cast faced various criticisms involving their past.
As we dig deep into their stories, here are the controversies that rocked the "Single's Inferno" cast.
Song Ji Ah
Definitely one of the fan-favorite and most talked-about participants, Song Ji Ah mesmerized the viewers with her doll-like features and impressive style.
However, after "Single's Inferno" wrapped up the first season, the 25-year-old YouTuber, who goes by the name of Freesia, faced a wave of allegations involving her status and family.
Song Ji Ah was under fire and accused of using knock-off designer outfits during her appearance in the Netflix show.
Following the allegations, she immediately addressed it through a public apology and admitted that the accusations were "true."
Unfortunately, that didn't stop her critics as the reality star's family was also involved in her drama.
Song Ji Ah's father was reportedly lying about his occupation and revealed that he was not a real dentist but running a "famous adult entertainment business" based in Busan.
As of now, her agency and the "Single's Inferno" star have not addressed this claim.
Kim Hyun Joong
There's no denying that Kim Hyun Joong has one of the best physiques on the "inferno" island.
His insanely ripped body made him stand out from the crowd; however, just like her "Single's Inferno" partner, he also faced allegations from netizens.
The 28-year-old fitness model is accused of using steroids to help him bulk up and maintain his body.
However, he shut down the rumors and mentioned on his Instagram Q&A that he never used a muscle-enhancing drug.
He also posted a statement on his IG Story noting to take legal actions against malicious commenters.
Shin Ji Yeon
The 24-year-old beauty stunned viewers in one of the episodes of "Single's Inferno" after she wore a tight-fitting long sleeves rash guard and paired it with black leggings that totally accentuated her curves.
Dubbing her as the new body goal, Shin Ji Yeon was accused of using body-enhancing undergarments like hip pads to increase the apparent waist-hip ratio and make her figure look curvier.
However, she firmly denied this on her YouTube channel and explained that she is naturally on the bigger side, particularly in the hip region.

Choi Si Hun
The 30-year-old model and fashion brand owner was under suspicion after netizens said that he worked in host bars and often worked with wealthy clients.
However, Single's Inferno" producer Kim Jae Won said that all the cast members "underwent sufficient verification, so I wasn't too worried about it. They weren't even true," he said.
