'All of Us Are Dead' Star Ahn Seung Gyun Enlists in the Military
Best known for his role as the nerdy Oh Joon Young in the Netflix K-zombie series "All of Us Are Dead," Ahn Seung Gyun secretly enlisted in the military. He temporarily leaves his acting career to undergo mandatory service.
The actor's side had to do this secretly to avoid the crowd at the height of the pandemic.
In addition, his last activity before the enlistment was an interview with Cine21 magazine alongside fellow "All of Us are Dead" co-stars Lee Eun Saem, who played the mouthy senior student Park Mi Jin, Ha Seung Ri, who took on the role of badass archer Jang Ha Ri and Kim Bo Yoon who portrayed Seo Hyo Ryung.
As part of the requirement in Korea, male citizens ages 18 and 28 needed to undergo compulsory military service.
Apart from him, several stars expressed their desire to undergo the mandatory service, including Nam Da Reum.
In a heartfelt letter, the "The Great Shaman Ga Doo Shim" star announced his plans to join the military early.
Meanwhile, K-drama heartthrobs Nam Joo Hyuk and Song Kang are rumored to enlist this 2022.
From 'All of Us Are Dead' to 'Love and Leashes'
He may be a rookie actor, but Ahn Seung Gyun appeared in several movies and K-dramas alongside sought-after stars. The 28-year-old actor might be familiar to those who are fans of youth-oriented Kdramas.
Debuting in 2016, he first starred in a law school series "Solomon's Perjury" while his debut movie was the "Queen of Walking."
Interestingly, he also played a supporting role in "Idol Fever" and "School 2017," but it was "All of Us Are Dead" where he was recognized by millions of fans.

As mentioned, he played Oh Joon Young, a student of Hyosan High who is into tech stuff. Unfortunately, he failed to survive the zombie apocalypse after he got bitten while trying to escape the gym together with the group.
In an interview, the lead stars recalled how Ahn Seung Gyun improved the line "let's go home" when he sacrificed his life to save his classmates.
To most of the viewers, this is one of the heartbreaking scenes in "All of Us Are Dead" episode 10.
However, aside from the 12-part episode zombie series, Ahn Seung Gyun also appeared in Netflix's "Love and Leashes," starring Girls' Generation Seohyun and Lee Jun Young.
In the BDSM-themed K-movie, the 28-year-old actor took on the role of Lee Han, the company's intern.
In the drama, he is being trained by Jung Ji Woo, played by the SNSD member. He is also the reason why Ji Woo and Ji Hoo's secret came out.
