The Netflix series took home another trophy after being hailed as Critics Choice Awards 2022 Best Foreign Language in a Drama Series.

"Squid Game" defeated fellow nominees "Acapulco" (Apple TV+,) "Call My Agent!" (Netflix), "Lupin" (Netflix,) blockbuster series "Money Heist" (Netflix) and "Narcos: Mexico" (Netflix.)

It will be the third time that a K-content won the same category at the Critics Choice Awards.

In 2021, "Minari," directed by Lee Isaac Chung, won the best foreign-language film. The same goes for Bong Joon Ho's satire movie "Parasite," scoring two categories in 2020. First is the best foreign-language film followed by the best direction award.

Unfortunately, "Squid Game" failed to score the Best Drama Series and lost to HBO's "Succession," which was declared as the Critics Choice Awards 2022 winner.

Lee Jung Jae Named as Critics Choice Awards 2022 Best Actor

The "Chief of Staff" star is dominating Hollywood after scoring two consecutive wins for the Best Actor category.

Lee Jung Jae bagged Best Actor in a Drama Series for his role as player 456, Seong Gi Hoon in "Squid Game."

The 49-year-old star edged Brian Cox and Jeremy Strong of "Succession," Sterling K. Brown for "This Is Us," Mike Colter in "Evil," and Billy Porter for "Pose."

Interestingly, this will be his third individual award for the same category.

His first was the historic win at the SAG Awards 2022, where he took home Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series. Meanwhile, his "Squid Game" co-star Jung Ho Yeon bagged the Best Female Award.

During his acceptance speech, he expressed his gratitude towards the "global audience" for their "love" and support for the tv show and of course, he also thanked his "Squid Game" team.

To recall, the survival-themed K-drama was named as the biggest show of Netflix after garnering 1.65 billion hours viewed during its first 28 days on the platform.
