The hit 2020 K-drama series "Itaewon Class" that made the viewers feel a roller coaster of emotions will now have a Japanese remake.
'Roppongi Class' is 'Itaewon Class' Japanese Version
Multiple K-media outlets delivered the report on March 24 that JTBC's "Itaewon Class," which stars Park Seo Joon, Kim Da Mi, Kwon Nara, and Ahn Bo Hyun is confirmed to be produced in Japanese drama. Furthermore, the upcoming adaptation is titled "Roppongi Class."

The series proved its popularity not just in Korea but also in various countries. During its run in 2020, "Itaewon Class" received lots of support from viewers, particularly in Japan. Even its lead star, Park Seo Joon, gained lots of fans in the country.
Who Is The Next Park Sae Roy?
Kakao Entertainment announced that it has completed a license agreement with a known Japanese broadcasting company for webtoons and dramas for "Itaewon Class." In addition, the cast for the remake has been confirmed, and production will start in April.
Takeuchi Ryoma who starred in Japanese series such as "Love You as the World Ends," "Ship of Theseus," and "Downtown Rocket" is rumored to be the Japanese version of Park Sae Roy. Meanwhile, other cast members are yet to be revealed.
The Success of 'Itaewon Class'
In Korea, as of March 22, the webtoon already has 400 million cumulative views and 20 million subscribers. Meanwhile, the drama itself ranked third with high viewership ratings under broadcasting company JTBC.
"Itaewon Class" female lead star Kim Da Mi, who just finished her melo-romance drama "Our Beloved Summer," bagged the Best New Actress award at 56th Baeksang Arts Awards in 2020. The K-series also won the Best Drama Award at the Asian Television Award last January 2021.
Other lead cast members Park Seo Joon, Kwon Nara, and Ahn Bo Hyun are currently busy with their solo works following the "Itaewon Class" conclusion. The "Hwarang" star just wrapped up filming his first Hollywood movie, "The Marvels." It is slated to premiere soon.
Ahn Bo Hyun, on the other hand, is filming his drama "Military Prosecutor Doberman." This is now his second series which he plays the main role. Kwon Nara just ended her fantasy-romance drama "Bulgasal" alongside Lee Joon and Lee Jin Wook.
Thanks to their outstanding performances in "Itaewon Class," these promising stars are now some of the in-demand actors and actresses in the industry.
