Director Hwang Dong Hyuk teases fans with surprising details regarding the much-awaited sequel of "Squid Game." According to the American media outlet Deadline, the South Korean filmmaker named two actors who are confirmed to join season 2.

Director Hwang Dong Hyuk Confirms Lee Jung Jae, Lee Byung Hun for 'Squid Game' Season 2

There have been speculations about the characters who will return to the highly anticipated sequel, but this will be the first time that the renowned director confirmed actors present in "Squid Game" Season 2.

During his appearance as a panelist in Deadline Contenders Television held at Paramount Studios in Los Angeles, California, Director Hwang Dong Hyuk dishes out cast members who will reprise their characters.

He said viewers would get to see Seong Gi Hoon's comeback in season 2 as well as the front man, saying, "Gi-hun for sure. He will be back, and I believe the Front Man will be back too."

To recall, Lee Jung Jae took on the character of the Ssangmun-dong native Gi Hoon, a.k.a. player no. 456 while Lee Byung Hun portrayed the mysterious front man who was then revealed to be a previous winner of the game.

Following the confirmation of Netflix regarding the sequel, fans are looking forward to the updates regarding the most awaited season 2.

Back in March, the "Squid Game" director was asked about the possible character joining the sequel.

In a previous interview with Deadline, Hwang Dong Hyuk teased fans about bringing back some of the series' deceased characters, saying that while "most of them are dead," the award-winning director shared that he will "try something to bring them back to season 2."

Surprisingly, he is pertaining to the fan-favorite Kang Sae Byeok played by the model turned SAG Awards Best Actress Jung Ho Yeon, who skyrocketed her fame after joining "Squid Game."

During the interview, the director said, "Let's say maybe she has a twin sister, you'll see," to which the actress replied, "I could change my hair color. Let's do a little like plastic surgery."

'Squid Game' Creator Hwang Dong Hyuk Hints at the Netflix Show's Third Season

While "Squid Game" Season 2 is in the works, the genius behind the blockbuster series previously confirmed that he is also in talks for season 3.

As cited by The Korea Times, Hwang Dong Hyuk tells KBS (Korean Broadcasting System, that apart from the second season, he hinted at the possibility of having a third installment of the biggest Netflix original series.; however, he didn't give further details regarding the upcoming season.

Released on September 17, "Squid Game" is currently the streaming platform's biggest show yet after surpassing the reign of the period series "Bridgerton."

Just days after it made its global debut, the nine-part episode K-drama landed the top spot in more than 90 countries, with a total of 1.65 billion hours of streaming in the first four weeks of release.
