"Broker," which stars IU, Bae Doona, Song Kang Ho, Kang Dong Won, and Lee Joo Young, unveils its first trailer.

One of the most highly anticipated films this 2022, the upcoming drama movie teases fans with a sneak peek of the star-studded film.

'Broker' Trailer Features the Star-Studded Lead Stars

Helmed by Japanese filmmaker Koreeda Hirokazu, the "Broker" trailer illustrates the journey of a single mother who sought help from two brokers to find a family for her newborn baby.

The 1-minute and 46-second teaser begins with IU, who played the single mother So Young. She sang a lullaby to her infant.

In the next scene, the baby is seen inside the car with the broker Sang Hyun, played by Song Kang Ho. It was then followed by Sang Hyun carrying the baby with his colleague Dong Soo. He is portrayed by Kang Dong Won.

"In a way, I guess you can say it's an act of good faith," he tells through a voice-over.

Interestingly, a young boy tells the two brokers he knew about everything.

"I know everything," the kid said, adding, "You are not a family. You are going to sell Woo Sung," referring to So Young's infant.

The next scene featured Sang Hyun looking desperate to find a "better client." On the other hand, detective Soo Jin, played by Bae Doona, is determined to chase the two brokers.

"They are going to be caught red-handed," she said.

The first trailer of "Broker" comes ahead of the prestigious Cannes Film Festival 2022.

'Broker' to Premiere at the 75th Cannes Film Festival

While viewers are looking forward to the official release of "Broker," the drama movie is slated to premiere at Cannes Film Festival 2022.

The Koreeda Hirokazu directed film is nominated to compete at the annual festival set to take place from May 17 until May 28.

Meanwhile, "Broker" will have its big-screen debut across South Korea in June.

Interestingly, joining the upcoming drama film competing for the Palme d'Or is the melodrama "Decision to Leave," directed by Park Chan Wook. It stars Park Yong Woo from "Tracer," Park Hae Il, Go Kyung Pyo, and Chinese actress Rebecca Tang.

In addition, Lee Jung Jae's directorial debut for "Hunt" also made it to Cannes under the Midnight Screenings.

IU's First-Ever Cannes Film Festival

"Broker" is IU's second big-screen appearance after the 2021 drama film "Shades of the Heart."

According to Korea Portal, the singer-actress is "grateful" for the experience and opportunity to join the star-studded cast.

"Throughout filming for 'Broker' last spring, I learned so much and had been grateful for the unique experience," she mentioned in a statement.

On the other hand, the renowned Japanese filmmaker Koreeda Hirokazu praised the South Korean actress for her stellar performance, lauding her "mature and graceful" acting.
